Some smithing questions.

Alright i need 80 smith for the tzhaar quest, and 90 for tetsu. I'm thinking artisans workshop since i dont have the unlocks yet.

What metal and ingot tier should i use? I dont have that much cash, but id be willing to put more into it if it means im not there forever. (between bossing and frosts im sure i can make the money.)

Will sacred clay hammers stack with the smithing amulets from doric's quest and sof?

I keep hearing about warbands, but i have never done them. how much xp can i get from doing them? (not just smith, also interested in herb and con)

Warbands are about 25 * input level here xp per full looting.

Since you're not 80 smithing yet, Artisan's is limited to mithril, which may be quite expensive. Artisan's in general is one of the most expensive training methods in the game that is still regularly used. If you want to cut costs, superheat gold (while mining is better for maxing, without mining is faster pure smithing xp).

According to this, the Gofannon amulet does stack with SC pickaxes, but not with hammers. I don't know what's up with that.

I heard making adamant platebodys were still fairly decent money? also, if you wanted to profit while smithing which is faster then superheat gold as far as i know in theory; superheating mithril averaging to 150 gp profit per bar is what i hear from clannies.

Runescape is a haven..

Adamant bar: ~3k gp.

Adamant platebody: ~9.7k gp.

Loss per platebody: ~5.3k gp.

Gain per platebody: 312.5 xp.

Loss per gain: ~17 gp/xp.

It's not bad, but it requires 88 smithing.

It's very unlikely that superheating mithril is faster smithing xp than superheating gold considering the following:

  1. Gold requires only one ore per superheat, thus one ore per smithing xp, thus less overhead from banking.
  2. Gold provides 56.2 xp per bar, mithril only 30.

how much of a speed loss is it using a furnace? if i do furnace, i was thinking of maby smleting them into jewlry for the bit of craft xp. i already have 99 magic so id rather save on the nat runes. I have varrock armor 3.

if i went the traditional smithing route, what's good to make? are unfinished bolts still the best?

for artisans, what tier should i make for a decent cost/speed ratio? should i only make highest metals or can i get away with doing iron? or would that be worse than other methods?

It'd be 1.3 times as slow using a furnace, approximately. Adding crafting would make it slower still, both in crafting and smithing xp. You can superheat while smelting at a furnace for decent xp/h, but if you want to do anything like that, just superheat while mining already. Same effort for more xp.

For traditional smithing, adamant bolts/arrow tips are slow (on par with smelting gold) and they don't lose you much money. Apart from bolts, only platebodies are really worth making anyway.

For Artisan's, the general idea is to use II, III or IV. IV is the best xp/h and the cheapest, but requires more effort. Iron is horrible, steel IV is alright-ish, for II and III don't even consider anything below mithril. If your budget doesn't allow power training with higher metals, just go with gold.

If you aren't looking to do a lot of clicking with superheating gold and would rather afk, then you could do Mithril Ingot ii for about 10gp/xp or about a 43m price tag, at 120k exp hour...

Or just do warbands while you do other skills and spend no money.
