Fishing

Featured Replies

I heard fishing is one of the easiest skills to get 99 on runescape, you only need enough money to afford feathers. Can someone tell me how long, how many feathers and how much money would it require for me to get it 99 from 60?

Fishing is easy but terribly boring. So I will both answer your question and offer suggestions.

1. You need roughly 220k feathers, which will cost approximately 5M. It will take about 230 hours, or 2 months at 4 hours a day.

2. Don't aim for 99 from 60. Raise all your skills roughly equally for now. You don't want your character to be that unbalanced.

Thanks for the answers, I appreciate it.

P.S: Thorgmir since you're 99 in combat skills, where did you train all of them? Deadly red spiders or?

Zezima once said that the best way to max (if your goal is to max) is to focus on one skill at once and to not give up until you're finished with it.

No problem with having 99 Fishing and every other skill low, really.

While I agree with you in the opinion. I don't think that for the average player who isn't absolutely into grinding a skill to death, its a bit overkill to expect people to just keep grinding for 99 unless they enjoy the activity or method.

I think spreading your xp around is the #1 reason why so many people aren't maxed

I've been trying to keep my stats around even on my alt, but the progress has been really slow. I didn't notice it when I was maxing this account, but I think it's true.

I'll agree with that 100%. In my previous post i don't think i said it clearly enough. If yippee looking to max and can grind for months without tiring, then by all means grind away with the fastest methods possible. But for the rest who aren't/don't want to be as efficient as possible, just do what you like.

Playing fish flingers adds some variety to fishing, and lets you get the fishing outfit for an extra 5% xp.

Read about it here (link to runewiki), then join the fc "2flingfish" when you want to play.

Well F2P at 99 could hit about 85k/h fly fishing.

Add in P2P urns, flingers outfit, and possible ava bonus, could probs reach 100k+?

What about c2 fishing. Anyone know if that's still a good/decent option?

Once you are 80+ c2 fishing is faster than all the alternatives. Fish flingers is still worth doing once you get the hang of it and is a nice change of pace, plus you get an outfit for fashionscape and the tacklebox is a trim req if you ever get to that point.

Barbarian fishing is your other option for the fastest exp.

If you don't do c2s at least do FF for the outfit. Then make sure you always use a fishing familiar, wear the outfit, use fishing urns, and if you have an emissary banner the +2 boost for a half hour isn't going to hurt anything if you don't plan on using it on anything else that day.

Armadyl Drops : 4 Hilts; 3 Chestplates; 2 Chainskirts; 1 Helmet; 1 Buckler; 2 Shard 1; 2 Shard 2; 1 Shard 3

Nex : 1 Zaryte Bow

Kalphite King : 1 Drygore Rapier ; 1 Drygore Longsword : 1 Drygore Offhand Rapier : 1 Drygore Offhand Longsword

You can train fishing on P2P worlds over at the ardrougne vu fishing spot. There is also barbarian fishing and when you can, rock tails for more cash. If you really want to max fishing go for it, but the time spent could get everything to at least 70 with some nice quests done. I'd suggest you train everything higher and then max skills as you see fit. Or focus on 2 skills at once so you don't get bored and end up quitting.
