there was a seperate news and updates section, the buttons just kinda went down the page, and you clicked em them, they were divided into different catagories

I remember Waaaay back in the early days of rsc what it looked like, too bad I didn't have a picture :(

Far right was a picture of a person in rune armor and addy plate fighting the "new realeased" elvarg in dragon slayer :P It had underneath a small text of what the update was, I'll never forget that :D

To the left was a link to play runescape, which took you to a centred list of 4 "servers"

Server 1

Server 2

Server 3

Server 4

Back to the main page... underneath Runescape were Jagex various other games, can't remember any of the names :( Back then, Runescape was merely their top game from a list of many. Look how big it is now 8)

the main page has changed so much its hard to remember which one was frist. I just remember it wasnt as fancy as it is now. It was like a basic website by a noob.

erliest I remember is when it was the rs logo in the center with the buttons to play the game, look at updates, look at highscores, ect in a U type shape around the bottom

try the waybackmachine.com or google it. it should display runescape over the past years i know it can get very technical

farthest back i remember(2002) there was 4 different options.

When you first went to the page, runescape.com, took you to jagex.com, which you clicked Runescape at the top.

After doing this you had 4 options, Play Now members/free and Download Now Members/Free.

If you clicked play now, it only took a few minutes to bring up, but if you clicked download now, it would take bout 10 minutes, but next time you would be connected instantly.

After doing this you had your choice of about 12 f2p servers and 4 members servers.

Most to a server was 1200 and there was no full option.

I never explored any other aspect of the main webpage, because i was knew, and was interested in just the game itself, but i beleive there was a highscores page, and also a manual.

Another interesting fact, as when you started a new account, you wouldnt do it on the frontpage, as you do now, but rather would click new account at the login page, this would take you through a few steps, and you shortly created your account. You would pick his appearence, but heres the interesting part, instead of going through tutorial island, you pick your characters class. You could be adventurer, warrior, wizard, archer, and miner.

wow, i forgot about the waybackmachine.

Btw, its waybackmachine.org and after looking at it, it seems as though i have described the game to a key

brings back the good ol' days or runescape.

You have to use Jagex.com instead of runescape.com on the waybackmachine

Great, another old ancient story telling of RuneScape in the past again where the elitists show up and some fakers as well. I thought I would never see these threads again once I left Runescape Community. Guess I'm wrong :|
