September 14, 201411 yr Ah, the memories. I love it when I was fighting monsters and then all of a sudden I was sent to a maze, and got some great stuff by the end of the maze. I also loved going to the dumbest quiz show that exists. And catching the evil twin, so great. I even miss a lot of the random events that were part of the game further back like the rock golem and the watchman. Nowadays there are no random events. In fact you get two items once a day by basically doing nothing. As neat as it is, I really miss the times you earned these items by doing random events right. It wasn't hard, but you still had to earn it. Does anyone else miss these? I know I do.
September 14, 201411 yr Yes. “I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”“Do you have any regrets?”“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”“Mmmhmm.”
September 14, 201411 yr I did enjoy them once in a while, but it seems most people saw them as more of an inconvenience when it interrupted whatever they were doing. September 14, 201411 yr Author I did enjoy them once in a while, but it seems most people saw them as more of an inconvenience when it interrupted whatever they were doing. To be fair I can see how it's an inconvenience. If you screw up, you were sent FAR away from where you were, so you had to go back there all over again. I know why the random events were removed, I still miss them a lot and am thinking about them. The Mysterious Old Man was so funny.
September 14, 201411 yr Well even the fact that it interrupts what you're doing could be annoying, even if you didn't fail the event. They did give you several chances so it was hard to screw up. September 14, 201411 yr I started playing with the random events in game, so I miss them. They've always been part of Runescape for me. I can see why people don't like them, particularly if you began playing when they weren't in the game. For example, I hate fatigue, the RSC anti-botting mechanism (it really has worked wonders!!!). At least with randoms you got XP and things. -Sobend Proud to be free from the tyranny of pants. Hurrah!
September 14, 201411 yr Being randomed when in the middle of doing an evil tree, shooting star or slayer task was not fun. ______________
September 14, 201411 yr They were boring and annoying imo, they weren't even random. Once you'd done ~10 so had the rarest occurrence rate you could predict them by xp gains (around every 200k xp if memory serves) withe the exception of random free areas where you'd be lynched as soon as u left the area. September 14, 201411 yr Author Ok, here comes another question. Can anyone honestly say we didn't earn the rewards we got from the random events back then? You had to pay attention to the maze and make sure you get to the end of it. You had to pay close attention to what the people looked like to find the real evil twin. Not to mention you had to use the CORRECT emote at the Mime, and that was a challenge as I confused them all the time. So yeah, I don't think anything you got from the random events wasn't earned.
September 14, 201411 yr I didn't find them to be any effort at all, all very basic with simple tricks/knowledge tied to beating them and they only really ever offered junk I immediately dropped. September 14, 201411 yr Aside from the maze and the exam, you got a lamp with 10*skill level xp, that is, less than 1k, practically nothing. In noob land lvls they are sort of alright you can get like 1/8 1/3 1/4 kinda figures, it's around lvl 50 they turn to junk as they are like 1/20th or worse. But then with an event every 200k xp or so you can do lvl 1 - 57 before you get one so... September 14, 201411 yr Author Come to think of it, the rewards really weren't anything special. I do remember getting 21 noted mithril ores once. But most of the times I found myself not wanting any of the stuff that was offered to me. So yeah, you got me there the rewards were for the most part junk. But I still find The Mysetrious Old Man to be funny, you can't change that about me.
