What potions should I make?

Featured Replies

I don't know anything about these new potions from prifddinas. Which should I make? The only combat I am likely to ever do on rs3 is slayer, and not anytime soon. Are there any worth making for xp as well?

Thanks!

Supreme Overloads are worthwhile as they boost more than overloads and actually work out less gp per dose. Plus pretty decent xp in making em.

There are perfect juju potions but I'm not sure how useful most are if you compare/contrast with porters. The one for the Agility course seems worthwhile if you might be doing that. In terms of experience making them yields about 100 each. Comparing that with the cost efficacy of other potions, I'm not sure if it is a great deal for powertraining :P. RS Wiki conveniently seems to have it excluded in their current calculator <_<.

My blog here if you want to check out my Times articles and other writings! I always appreciate comments/feedback.

If you use overloads for slayer, making combination potions that use overloads (e.g. holy overloads) increases your overload doses by 50% at the cost of another potion (which also gets another 50% doses) + flask (like 500gp?).

Taking data from the RS Wiki, overloads currently cost 63k to make a 3 dose potion (84k for 4 doses). If you combine an overload (4) with a prayer renewal (4) (at 9k) and a crystal flask (500gp), you've effectively now got 6 doses of overload and prayer renewal for about 94k, whereas 6 doses of overload would typically cost you 126k.

If you want to squeeze an extra 3% XP out of Voice of Seren, make perfect plus potions.

P.S. There's no better feeling in herblore than when your DG scroll activates and saves you a whole overload potion.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Would definitely recommend making a couple of thousands of Holy and Supreme overloads. Some people also recommend Supreme Salve overload, the one with anti dragon and poison, but I personally don't see much need for it.

But yeah, definitely Holy and Supreme overloads.

^ The salve one is handy on occasion, but for me its the kinda pot I don't keep in stock I make a few when I find a need for them.

To date my only real use of them has been in Rush of Blood to make inventory managing a bit easier.

This hasn't worked ever since release.

Certain potions give you very profitable herblore (positive 10 gp/xp).

Hi Artemis.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

Hi Kevin.

Thanks for the info all. I ended up not making any of the pots this weekend, stuck with straight overloads this weekend.

Not trying to bump an old(ish) thread, but did you say "profitable" and "herblore" in the same sentence? What is the method then?

Might no longer be the case but it involved certain combination potions.

Replenishment potions are worth making as well.

Gives you extra 2 adrenaline potion doses + gives effect of a super restore per dose. Definitely worthwhile.

Same with wyrmfire as well, in regards to super antifire doses.

Pretty much all the tradable combos are stupid good gp/exp rates. Just off the basis you have to exchange making overload materials and actually having the recipes for them at that point.

Overload Salves makes the most extra dosage. But Antifire + Prayer is usually redundant due to Demonhorn bar QBD or Frosts.

Searing Overload is the cheapest and pretty much makes free overload dosage.

Supreme Salves makes the most exp. 600+700 per overload used in two steps. Next best was 500 for Basic Salves.

Salves are best used for Bank and Inventory space or outright simplicity. I'm pretty sure you can use god banner to boost for Supreme Salves so you can still make use of the exp.
