I like how there are 3 pages of discussion, yet no one has been able to tell us why being social is better than "no-lifing" as you call it. Some people enjoy being alone, I don't see why those people should be insulted for not being as social as others.

But for some people (like Traver mentioned) are playing runescape because they like to be alone. No one has any right to judge them for doing that. What I find funniest is how people whenever they're accused of being a "no-lifer" quickly defend themselves by saying "Well I work full time, go to school, hang out with friends, have a girl/boyfriend, and only play runescape for 1-2 hours a day." I'd have to say that that is impossible in many cases because some have millions of experience in RS that would normally take years to gain, yet they claim to have done it in only a year or two.

 

 

 

I myself would have to say that I used to play a lot during school and summer months, but as I grew older (Started in late '01) I was able to even out my time on runescape so it was still manageable with other things going on in my life. And as someone said earlier in the topic about them being shy. I'm the same way. I do go out a lot with friends and socialize in the real world but being shy, I don't usually "get the girl" or anything like that, but that is fine with me because I believe that good things come to those who wait.

 

 

 

I may have gone a little off topic in the last little bit there, but I can get rambling on sometimes...

 

 

 

So as a summary: Don't judge. Take things in moderation. Have fun.

Well, I think that some of us just have a personality that's really annoying, or their ugly, or for some reason they're just unpopular to begin with. It's really not their fault if they don't want to go hang out with people who just make fun of them.

during school i dont play that much

 

and i have had a gf

for me, I use the game as a way to connect, not to disconnect. Many of my friends also play runescape and so we end up hanging out and talking while we play. We sometimes use the convienience of the pm system to set-up times for hanging out later in the day. Though I must admit that I do binge on occassion (level 100 I come for you this wednesday) I tend to keep it to a couple hours a day.

because a small % of the rs population are no lifeing nerds who dont hang out with their friends, and the rest of us play rs on the side.

im 15 years old I only have 3 main friends and i have never had a girldfriend.. but does that make me a bad person?

 

I play rs about 3-5 hours a day after school and about 8 hours a day on the weekend.. oh and over the summer i played about 15 hours a day...

 

 

 

I myself am 15, I used to play everyday 5 hours a day, 10+ in weekends.... now i almost never play rs and my life is waaay better, i got a girlfriend and many new friends i hang out with,,,, dont play rs so much

I generally laugh at these comments, esspecially because I'd have said the same thing to myself two years ago if I had met myself then.

 

 

 

I was a runescape no-lifer. I hardly ever got exercise, etc. I wasn't in shape, the only reason I wasn't about 200lb (in junior high, at just about 5 ft) was because of genetics and my body's way of just getting rid of extra food.

 

 

 

Either way, since then I've started working out and cut back on runescape, but I do play quite a bit: I live quite aways away from my friends houses, and my house isn't really the best place to have a group of friends over unless you like woods, more woods, the occasional stick, and/or talking.

 

 

 

 

 

I recommend to those who play and never exercise, hang out with their friends, prioritize a bit. Runescape is a FUN game, I'll say that. I always appreciate the reaching of a goal, be it mine or someone elses, be it runescape or not. However, it's not as fun as spending time with friends, someone who you care about, playing an insturment, or joining a sport (swimming ftw :P). Prioritize in fun things, and runescape should be somewhere around the bottom of fun things but before hated things.
