A modest suggestion.

Ok, I've thought about this for a bit and I'm not sure if it's a good idea, that's why I decided to run it by you fine folks.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Many people complain about many things in the present state of runescape. Prices have dropped on too many items and skyrocketed on too many others, new players are at a severe disadvantage, etc. While I do not agree with some of these grievences, others are certainly well founded.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My solution: Restart Runescape.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ok Ok, let me explain before you light up the flame gun. Take a few, maybe 5 - 10 worlds (1 or 2 members), and turn them into a clean slate. You would have to create a new account to play on these worlds, and that account could not play on the pre-existing worlds and pre-exsting accounts could not play on these worlds.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The pros:

 

 

 

Everyone (at the time of world creation) starts out on equal footing.

 

 

 

Things like rune and dragon become rare again.

 

 

 

No rares, for people who dislike rares.

 

 

 

Personally I think it would be fun to play where everyone starts out on equal footing since I wasn't aware of runescape in it's earliest days.

 

 

 

Does not affect the players who wish to remain on the present system.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Cons:

 

 

 

This is a temporary fix. Those worlds will inevitably end up like the present runescape universe.

 

 

 

Does not help people who come after the world switch.

 

 

 

I'm sure there are others.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A Possible solution to these cons could be that after a certain amount of time, the players are given the option of joining the mainstreme runescape world, and the clean slate worlds reset again. I find this solution unsatisfying but it's all I can come up with at the time.

I think that Jagex should have more controll over the economy but not to much. Players should have their own shops and houses, pets like horses, dogs,ect. Jagex is focusing to much on tiny tweeks then the real issue in my opinion.

yes, lets delete years and years and years of work from tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of veterans of runescape because some newbs joined runescape. hmm... bad idea. hell, by that logic you'd command two warring armys to commit suicide because one existed for longer.

 

 

 

and no don't give me any of this "but the newbs!" stuff. I myself have only been playing runescape for a pityful 4-5 months or so. But i can already afford a santa and much more to go with that. if i could do it then, i could do it easily now.

 

 

 

and be HAPPY prices are low. it's good, skills are easy to levels but not too easy (think of the whingeing on these forums! if people constantly suggest things for their own reasons of incompitance currently think of how many people would do it after!).

 

 

 

i imagine the "increasing" prices your talking about are mainly based on rares. but you see, the thing is; at first you must work hard, and get hold of a rare. it takes not much hard work and a 1-2 months should get you easily a small rare. maybe even multiple santas. once you grab on to the price range and get one you will always be able to keep up. it's really not that hard to do. at all.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

but from the "Jagex" point of view (or should i say a company's point of view? meh all the same) this would be a disaster. hell it might even run them out of buisness.

 

 

 

millions, and yes i mean MILLIONS of people would quit runescape FOR GOOD. just think of it, years of work, which represented so much determenation and dedication to this game would be deleted with a press of a button from Jagex. sounds pretty damn unfair to me... just because some newbs are entering the game. (don't get me wrong, i have nothing against newbs, i simply say newb because that's what they are "new blood". if i didn't like them i'd be saying noobs :wink: ).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

but seriously, waht's the good of makeing rune and dragon rare again? they'll just become the new expensive big items and will make it ahrder for people to get their combat up because they don't have a spare hundred million in bank.

 

 

 

as for "no rares", that would be a bad thing. again, many people would quit runescape for ever because of this. only a few people that don't like rares (*cough* poor people *cough*) and so many more people love them in the game.

 

 

 

if everyone was the same level... then it would just be so lame. Runescape has a big thing about... well you could say... "Idol" players. lots of people look at those highscores and dream of haveing thoise huge accounts like little yuffie, zezima, mendark etc. when people look at these they start getting determenation of being one of those. of being admired by millions of people just from one of their glances at the high scores. this is what fuels many players in runescape to keep on playing and acheiving those huge goals. yet another profit killer for Jagex. By now they'd be out of buisness in no time... Jagex staff don't work for free and neither is putting up servers free.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and i don't see how Jagex could manage to run two completely diffrent sets of worlds... it just... wouldn't work. one would need lower level updates and the other higher. they'd need to hire more staff.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and what of RSC? that makes THREE difrent sets of the same game being hosted at the same time by the same company. it just doesn't work like that...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

on a last note i'd like to inform you that this has been suggest quite a few times and lets just say... it wasn't flame free.

i assure you i read your post twice. it wouldn't work if it was optional or not. no one would do it except the people straight from lummy. seeing as they're f2p jagex would be makeing no profit and only be loseing cash hosting servers.

He didn't say that EVERY server would be reset. Just a handful would be made new again(like say, 3 f2p and 2 p2p). I would do it, if I didn't find RS so boring now.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

People won't quit RS just because Noobex added 5 servers and said they were to be "Fresh Start" servers. It's ridiculous to even think that.
