bjbj1991
http://www.azcentral.com/offbeat/articl ... 29-ON.html Now I dont know what compeled the kid to take the gun to school but after it was there, he knew he screwed up. He took the gun to his teachers and he still got exspelled! He did't threaten anyone or even brag to anyone! If the kid left it in his backpack it could have been taken by another kid and used (it was unarmed) so dont get made at him for doing the right thing. MyPurpleCrayon
Stuff like that happens at this school near where I live. It's so sad... parents these days... bjbj1991
The worst part of this is not the fact that the parents did not lock the gun up but was the school's reaction. Lets say that the gun was loaded and a kid was looking threw his backpack, wont be a nice. For the kid to give the gun to a teacher as soon as he goto school was good, infact it was the best and safest desision for everyone because it could have prevented a shooting. Mr_Niceguy91
We had a kid bring a gun to school to "show it off." The kids he showed it to on the bus got scared and told on him. Bye, bye to that [bleep]get. Now he's permanently in an alternative school.
MyPurpleCrayon
Yeah this kid showed my vice principal his shotgun thinking it would be cool, since he is into hunting and all... Too bad the kid got expelled. And it was just two days ago a girl got caught with a butcher knife in her purse. I wonder what she was going to do with that...? But the same actions were taken for her too. Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.

Bubsa
Heh, expelling five year olds from school. God, where is the world going to. I was more concerned with the 5 year old having access to the gun. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

True, but that's parent's failure, we're all aware that that happens. But expelling a five year old kid, that's most likely unaware of what he's doing, from school is even weirder. Bubsa
I guess we can hope it will be an effective deterrent, if not for other families at least for this one. The child will certainly know not to pick one up again and (hopefully) the parents won't be so stupid to leave one in the child's reach. The punishment, I would like to think, was aimed more at the parents. The child is the only one who can directly get punished, but I hope it was just as a wake-up call to the parents from the Headmaster. I actually think it's not as disgraceful as everyone makes out. I support more than I detest this decision. Guns are the last thing to take lightly. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. How2PK
What's the point of expelling a five year old. Give the parent's some 'punishment' (if somebody should be 'punished' for this), not the kid. Bubsa
I know there's no point, but the Headmaster has no justification to 'punish' the parents, s/he can only punish the child. Maybe s/he thought that was a substantial way of punishing the parents. Or maybe I'm defending the indefensible :P This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. imhoopstarjc
Maybe we should just forget the fact that the kid is 5 years old and concentrate on the fact that the parents let this kid get ahold of a gun

I thought expelled meant indefinately :? the word expelled isnt' the right one, suspended is. Expelled is for the rest of the year, excluded is where you are expelled and arn't allowed to return :?
