Hit rate of monsters? Random?

Featured Replies

Well Im currently training on lvl <??> skeletons at because it gives great xp with the constant high hits with salve amulet. I have 88 Defence, Super set, and torags. My Defence bonus are 310 Stab, 306 Slash, 295 Crush. At times I go nearly 10-20min with out taking NO hits, Im super potted, and sometimes I go 10 mins with taking hits every 2-4 times, Constant 8's and 7's. I seem to get hit more when im full hp than being at around 60-70hp, at times I run out of doses of super sets and It takes quite a while for me to waste my last 5-8 sharks because it doesnt hit me, and im NOT potted. I feel like hits arnt really that "random" like they should be. Same thing with "random" events, 80% of my random events come when I click a teleport option. Im done training for a hour or so, click teleport, and theres my random :? . Is it just "me" or is something going on?

hmm that is weird ... that happens to me too , u train for a while and tele and theres a random. i wonder whats going on

woot first post?

hows the weather up there. where the rich people live. currently, in the poor area its -1.

Obtaining a random event isn't totally random.

There are preset times in the game when they can occur.

That is when your character rolls the dice to see if it gets a random event.

Teleports seem to be different.

I think you make a random event roll before each teleport, not time based.

Also, luck and dice rolling is streaky by nature.

They don't hit you for awhile, then this one just pounds on you.

You are hitting them all the time, and then you just cant seem to hit this one etc.

Of course, this is all speculation based on observations, but its not like Jagex is going to reveal any information about anti-macro technologies.

So good luck on obtaining the real truth.

He just successfully trolled you with "courtesy" and managed to get a reaction out of you. Lol

Happens to me all the time too. And I get logged out way too much too, even in the middle of fighting.

You mean like getting the ramdom eent chicken when you are trying to teleport?

I hate that!

Im fighting monsters and then i get down to lets say 6hp (the monsters max out at 3 damage and almost never do damage) and I think "Im getting low on hp so i better leave." so i click teleport and a chicken pops up! SPLASH! 6 DAMAGE! "oh dear, you're dead!"

There goes 600k in items...

I remember 1 day i got 2 mimes, 3 mazes, 5 old men and a few other things

the next day im doing the exact same thing and i dont get 1 event

so yea, it does seem like it goes in streaks.

P.S. thanks for the great training spot

I have that too.

I was training at fire giants like an hour long

I tele I have random.

Then iI do some tele's to varrock to sell my stuff , then to fally , then ardougne ... no random

Then go back to fire giants , after 2 hours I tele again and I have random

When i do the sudokos for rogue trader, i always seem to get a random when i finish - though that might be the time factor. I do take quite a while!

As a previous poster said, anything 'random' will clump together - if it didnt there would be a pattern! Over the whole two hours though you will take an average amount of hits. The best way is to base all estimates on the worst case (constant 7's and 8's), and be pleasantly surprised by the 0's.

I have to get practically naked when I'm cooking bacon.

I may be immature, but that made me laugh!

yea its definitely random with :

r.nextInt(x+1);

r = random Number

x = number below which you want

(after initializing Random)

this is simplest, your armor and defence may also be factored into the calculation

I have the answer to your question: <>.

Hope I helped(not really).

That happens to me too. I just figured that, since randoms are meant to discourage autoing, they would pop up if your character is doing nothing. Normally if you don't do anything, you time out, so it makes sense that they'd want to prevent players from trying to get around it (although off the top of my head I can't think of a reason why anybody'd want to).

Anyway, when you're doing a puzzle, your character isn't doing anything. My guess is that they just didn't exclude the puzzle as an exception to the "loitering rule."

Of course, I could be completely wrong.

Remaining for Completionist Cape: Livid Farm spell (Borrowed Power)

I think random events go like this now: Pretend theres a "random event meter" that is at 0% right before you start training a skill, the new random event meter will slowly start rising when you are doing something like combat training, when it reaches 100% that means you were training for a time like 30 minutes. You will get one if you click on teleport at anytime, but if you don't the meter will rise to let's say 110% and after awhile when it goes to 150% you will get a "late" random event no matter what but the random will be something like dwarf, swarm, or teleport matrix. although the best chances of getting a rare random event like mime, drill demon, quiz if you hit a teleport spell right on the 149%

so basically it's like a "how high can you go" before you go too high and have to start over again

facts

1. logging out doesn't affect the random event meter, but might even make them luckier

2. random events have the same luck as drops do (meaning sometimes you can get 3 mimes in 2 hours and sometimes not one for a year)

exactley!

i am woodcutting yews and wham 2 mimes 5 minutes playing time apart! i dont get it.it goes in streaks for me too. i will be killing lessers and not waste a single lobster for 5-6 of them. then the next one, i will eat 2. my theory was you randomley got a harder monster not harder per se, but sometimes they hit harder more often. i agree
