That is a little impossible, seeing as the ice is below freezing, therfor (and this is an educate quess), it is too cold for the ice to contain bacteria itself. Of course some will be preasent, but not enough to out do toilet water.

I always do anyway, especially at places that they make you pay for refills. The drinks are already cold and I love sipping on an ice-free coke. :P

You are confusing your facts. Bacteria can't live in VERY HIGH temperatures not very low. As Barihawk said the only real bacteria comes from bodily waste.

 

 

 

I think the results of this test are quite easy to beleive. I think I'll be skipping ice on the rare occasions I acutally go to MacDonalds or whatever.

This is just a guess but...don't the toilets in the restraunts have cleaning chemicals in them to make them sanitary and these chemicals would eat your stomach and make you vomit your guts out if you drank it, yet they don't put them in the water used for ice due to the previous mentioned reason, therefore leading to the conclusion that the toilet water maybe "cleaner" yet entirely unfit for drinking? Just wondering.

Doesn't it say that people checked over the experiements and say it was all done correctly? If it doesn't nvm.

Actually, bacteria CAN live in extremely high temperatures. There have been bacteria discovered inside geysers at Yellowstone Nat'l Park (hot enough for ya? :wink:). :)

Never knew that. But is it bactira that can harm you? Because there's a lot that don't do anything.

 

 

 

Most bacteria are harmless, but there are types of bacteria that will harm you. There are types of ecoli living in your body which helps your body digest food. Then there are other ecoli that are harmful; remember the uncooked meat ecoli scare? :)

 

 

 

Yeah and thats why they were so scared of the experiments results. Due to the fact that they found levels of fecal coliform or E. coli in the ice. Which is unacceptable bacteria to find. :wink:

Here in Holland, we use clean water to flush our toilets with, so that water is clean.

 

 

 

I've been to Florida last summer and I noticed that the drinking-water is full of chlorine there, to keep the water clean. So assuming that the fast-food restaurants use normal drinking-water to make their usecubes with, they should be just as clean as the water everyone drinks.

 

 

 

I don't know what kind of water they use there to flush their toilets, but if they use normal water, I think the text in the 1st post in not true.

Luckily I don't use the food or the facilities at any fast food places.

am talking about restaurants in general.i worked in 4...they all had did some things they woudnt want the costumers too know

I really really believe it depends on the area and the restuarant. Alot of the fast food places around here don't exactly have a reputation for being clean. I knew a guy who worked at Burger King... Some of the things he told me that he saw has kept me from ever eating there again. I've seen employees at Wendy's bring their infants in and change the baby's diaper on the same table customers eat on. I don't think the food establishments around here get checked by the health department regularly. So, around here, you pretty much eat fast food at your own risk.

But toilet water isn't too bad once you get used to it. So it doesn't really matter anyways.

As it was pointed out before, freezing doesn't kill it, it just stops or slows down their grwoth and reproduction.

 

 

 

There doesn't really seem much to be work up over this anyway, doesn't tell you how the sample was collected and how the experiment was carried out, just a brief description. Besides this all the samples seems to be from the same relatively small area.

there are more germs on an average users keyboard than on their toilet. but which ones would be the ones that harm you? there may be more in the ice, probably not as bad of ones though.

not my keyboard, I sterilize it often.

Biting your nails is as dirty as licking a toilet bowl too; however, you have to know the dirtiness of what you're comparing it with ;) In this case, the toilet bowl. As said previous multiple times, is not that dirty.
