i wanna buy a new pc and i dont wanna spend that much (14yr old erning ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã30 a wi no about pcs but not that much i wanna use it to play games do work listen to music burn music dvds (legally :shock: ) play games the usuall,

 

i dont no wether i should buy a cheap pc and upgrade it or just buy a ready built pc

 

 

 

any1 got any suggestions?

Depends what games and at what settings.

I guess 500 pounds will be enough for a dual core CPU + moderate graphic card.

ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã500 won't get you a machine with a dual core and moderate graphics card.

I recently built a ~ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã500 machine for my flatmate (inc CRT screen) and it got him an A64 3200+, 1GB DDR400 with a PCI-E nVidia 6500... ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã500 doesn't go far at all when you have all the components to think about. Especially in rip-off britain.

well, it depends on if you want to just upgrade your computer or buy a new one. if you just plan on upgrading, dont, it sucks (haha, personal bias :D ). if you are planning on going new, i suggest buying a fairly cheap emachines computer. *waits for shouting to die down* yes, i am suggesting buying an emachines computer. i bought one for my parents, one for my sister, one for my grandparents, and two for friends (i didnt pay for them, they did, i jsut told them what to buy 8) ). all of their experiences and my experience with them has been just fine. having said that, i suggest waiting for a while. soon emachines are going to start coming with motherboards that support pcix16 video cards. you buy a whole new computer for about $550 (USD, have no idea in britain) add a $200 video card and it will be pretty good for games.

if u wanna get a good pc for ure money ure better off buying the parts and building it ureself (aslong as u know how) most prebuilt computers cost atleast ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã100 more than they should so thats quite abit off ure budget already

Well, if you bought the Asus A8N-E motherboard and the X2 3800+ processor, you would have saved quite some money there. The SLI motherboard you have has a few extra features and SLI. Not very useful if you don't buy 2 high end videocards. If you upgrade you might just as well buy a new videocard, so that makes SLI useless.

 

The 3800+ gives more bang for the buck. The 4400+ is far too expensive for what you get.

Have you thought about maby buying the parts from overseas and having them sent to you e.g. America or Australia since its so expensive over there?
