I need to know just the over all most advantageous way to get there, keeping in mind im not loaded. (with cash...) Krazyck
Use steel or iron. how much better is the steel vs the iron, and is it worth the cost? 1543 Skill total, 100% F2P
Rebdragon
I use Irons, and kill Fire Giants (went from 50 to 74 Range there). I can make 400k+ a trip at Fire Giants without getting a single dragon drop, so I love 'em for training 8) . [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series. marko0
Steel is a lot better. I don't know the cost, check the ranging stores.

meol
IF you make them, I'd say that you should go with steel, but if you are buying them go for iron. Just my opinion, though. This signature is intentionally left blank.

ChaosSt0rm
if i were you i wouldnt bother with steel stick with bronze/iron go to lessers, depending on whether you pick them up or not i think 100k iron/bronze should do it quite easily picking them up alot less depends how quick you want it or train in the wildy at the bandits? bring about 5k arrows everytime, and go aslong as you can without being pk'ed it shouldnt be too hard to escape from anyone who attacks you and just teleport back and start again
Goobore
Ok guys.. here the deal. I am shooting for 80 range, Ok, I just reached 80 ranged in F2P myself. and i need to know what is the best way to do it. Well, I ranged the 2 lesser demons on the top of Crandor Island. There are safe spots on the east and north of their area. Cast a Curse spell on them to "pull" them over to your safe spot. If you do it right, then you will never get hit by them. I used to bring Curse and teleport runes along with my ranger gear. Things like, how much its gonna cost me, I don't know. I used bronze arrows that I got from Pirate drops. is it worth it to use iron/steel/mith/addy or just stick with bronze for cost effectiveness. At level 65 range, the max hit of bronze, iron, steel, mith, and addy is about 8, 8, 9, 10, and 11. So, I think that Bronze looks very cost effective... should i bother picking up arrows if its bronze? Pick up your arrows. If you pick up an average of 75% of your arrows then you will get 4 times the number of shots out of them. If you use the "Curse pulling trick" that I mentioned above, then all of your arrows will be in a tidy pile, along with the loot, right in front of you. If you do it right, you will never get hit, all of your arrows will be in 1 place, and you can even kill 2 lessers at the same time. Hope this helps. skeroh
there are also safespots inside the Karajma Volcano. There are stlagmites and you can lure the lessers because they are too big to fit through. the southern one is usually filled with mages though and the northern one usually has more meleers. Retired from runescape. I will be on every now and then though. :)

I was thinking about doing the crandor lessers, since thats what I have been doing for my mage levels (went 71-79 mage here, 80 soon) and I like that curse idea. This is just the reenforcement i needed to do it here.. just out of curiosity, would you have *any* idea of how many bronze arrows it would cost? I just need a rough estimate... Thanks again for the advice :P 1543 Skill total, 100% F2P
Goobore
...and I like that curse idea. The "pull with a Curse" method really makes the whole process clean, neat, and efficient. Plus, if the Curse does stick, you lower the monsters defense by 5% ...would you have *any* idea of how many bronze arrows it would cost? Well, if you pick up an average of 75% of your arrows and if we assume that the formula for max hit for bronze arrows is BronzeMaxHit = floor((Range + 14)/9) (that's 8-10 for 65-80) and if we assume that your long term hit average is half of the max value then I estimate about 20700 bronze arrows needed. ...I just need a rough estimate... I used to bring with me just enough arrows and Curse runes to reach the next range level. That way I knew how many more lessers I had remaining to be killed. After that I would teleport to the bank to drop off loot and refresh my arrow, rune, and (rarely) food supply. I brought arrows, a tiny bit of food, and runes for Cursing, Teleporting, and Hi-alching. IIRC, I got a rune med, roughly, every 700 arrows shot. Hope this helps.
