Regarding the Essence Autoers/Yew Log Autoers.

Featured Replies

There is no stop to this. If they end F2P, they'll just move to P2P. If they ban all Chinese IPs, they just use a proxy. It will not be until ppl quit buying GP for real money that all this will end, and lets be honest: this will not happen anytime soon...

This sums up a lot of what I could say. Ending F2P would just make them start more on P2P. I'm sure they could make their $5 a month back, so they would find it worthwhile. How long before we have tons of pure ess macroers?

The only forseeable end is for people to stop buying gp. I mean, its ridiculously stupid anyway. Someone quoted prices being about $8 per mil. Who would pay $1600 for a blue party hat, something which has little use when you get banned for real life trading, if what Jagex say about "dirty money tracking" is true. I don't see why there is even a demand for gp, but this needs drying up. Jagex needs to ban the gp BUYERS, more than the sellers.

This would reduce macroing to people who just want gp instead of real life money, probably cutting out 19 out of 20 autoers. Then the problem would be easier to deal with, tracking the money or items made from autoers and banning the peoples "main".

The article you linked was an interesting read, people should be made much more aware of this.

The honest people are in a lose - lose situation.

This might not happen, but if Jagex DO stop the autoers making a living buy chopping yews, then the Real Life market for Gps might go up because there is less of it that is being illegally sold.

That may encourage more Autoers to auto because there is less of it around so the prices might increase.

Now im not entirely sure if this is true because I'm just 13, but im just pointing it out.

Weird part is that jagex can't actually do anything about this, here's why:

Say they ban alot of chinese ip's, well rs allways thinks that i play from germany when i actually don't. so if i have done something accidentally that makes rs think i'm german then i bet it's easy enough for the leet programmers to figure out a way to circumvent all that stuff, it even said so in the article.

Man, just when i needed to buy alot of strings i get a guilt trip...

Educational though, very educational.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either

a fool or a coward.

Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law

is both.

For a wounded man shall say to his assailant:

"If I live, I will kill you, If I Die, you are forgiven."

Such is the Rule of Honor.

I think this is quite sad.

Sadder yet, is knowing that if something could be done to stop this those people "working in the sweatshops" would be forced either into extreme poverty or forced into another sweatshop that's an actual sweatshop. The auto sweatshops are probably air-conditioned because the computers need to keep cool... plus, what's harder? Sitting on one's rear clicking, or doing physical labour...?

Someone made a statment about finding it hard to beleive autoers are people and not autoers. The way I understand the article, the autoers do the work and the people monitor them and react if they notice something wrong. So a single person might be watching something like ten computers that are actually doing the "work" on the game.

I do beleive that something needs to be done about such things, but it is not within the ability of JaGeX or any other MMORPG-producing company to stop. Whatever measures are put in place, someone will find a way around it. So then the only way to prevent it is to shut down the game itself... There can be a whole slew of changes, but they're only temporary band-aids.

Even if it was theoretically possible to stop autoing... These "sweatshop" workers could just instead be forced to actually "play" the game and then sell their profits...

I've seen the big gold sellers on eBay, but I also know that there is a large community of cheating kids who cheat not for rs gold or real life gold but for fun. Cheating as much as they can as long as they can without getting caught is their game.

Well that is quite true that there are typical autoers like that. i have heard people hire WOW players to train their accounts for $20 a level, i don't really know. but why do people do these things?

games are supposed to be fun and just to burn up some time, however, a lot of players get married in a game and base their life totally on it. I know i did it too(exept the part of getting married in a game), i have played games instead of HW. i have had more entertainment on the computer that i never watch TV anymore.

I never really find a time for myself to say "now it is time to enter the real world" it seemed to me that i didn't want to enter the real world because i like playing games.

all in all... Russians created Tetris to make americans dumber... did it work?

I throughly enjoyed reading the article and learned a lot. Once again hundreds of people working for hardly no pay and a few people seeking all the profits. Instead of making shoes their doing it over the net.

interesting, maybe i wont try to get autoers killed ever again :?

I would think that this portion of people represents a very small fraction of the cheating community. Sure its bad, but not buying runescape millions won't solve the problem. People should just not buy runescape millions because its wrong and getting ahead by cheating will give you no sense of accomplishment and all in all make the game pointless. If you want to have lots of GP, play one of the many hacked servers that are out there. (Don't really, I am sure most of them have keyloggers attached in some shape or form).

Lets all just be patient and wait for the Jaqex team to make a decision or implement the new anti cheating software.

While Alot of it is true, I can tell you that the figures related to chinese sweat shops are completly untrue. Just go to one of sites, get the IP and then check here its hosted. Most are American. Also lets be serious, a factory with people watching over computers playing an MMORPG, that, might be popular but is certainly not as popular as a lot of other internet games. It's not a good method of income, it would take months to get the money back to even pay for the computers as Java consumes alot of system resource.

I wrote this in a hurry so ill edit later ;)

That's about 50% true. Half of the autoers you see, you probably wouldn't notice was an autoer. All those level 15-30s are autoers, some of them may talk, thats just a few lines of code. Some of them take different paths to everyone, thats anti-ban, another few hundred lines of code. Sure, all the names are asain, those are the gold farmers, with 100s of bots running to sell their stuff on sites like ebay. The other half of autoers are ones that either want to get rich quick, or want to raise their stats for pretty much free.

And buying large amounts of items, ever heard of merchants?

Also, a proxy will mask the IP efficiently. Socks5 work best.

I'd like to see you solo all three dag kings at once.

Easily done with just 2 people.

And buying large amounts of items, ever heard of merchants?

A "smart" merchant will find no barrier to buying from macroers since they usually sell huge amounts cheaper. This brings me to the original point of not buying easily macroed products on a large scale.

In summation: Yes, and I don't buy those goods from them for the same reason.
