  1. Bandwidth is such a negligable cost these days, I got no idea why they are complaining about that. Point of the matter really is, by using clients which give you access to 'full' worlds you get an unfair advantage over others not using that same software. They have correctly identified the problem, the solution on the other hand should be used as an interim measure untill they introduce server -quing or something similiar. Lets hope thats what they are doing. I don't really like auto-loading signatures anyway, make them personal. If I wanted to know about your stats, i'd do a search. I am more interested in you.
  2. Most lotteries give you the choice between a lump sum payout and a gradual pension like plan. Although, some insist on the gradual plan and then they don't fix it for inflation. Also, you don't have to make a public appear after you win the lottery, that is also optional. If you don't want to they use a fill-in person. (Usually a fill-in family). And whoever was bagging on the Telstra shares, T3 was the best investment I ever made, if you didn't make it then me and my money will be just laughing in the bank while you live on poor street smoking crack and playing dice.
  3. I didn't know people still actually read that. Interesting.
  4. I feel so old and I am still a teenager (19, not looking forward to being 20). Although, for some reason I think this thread will be locked. Most likely because it asks a personal question and we can't have that. People could do bad things if they know how old you are. (Not poking fun at the tip.it moderators, just the internet and the way it chooses to interact with people, especially minors).
  5. One man's fun is another man's...unfun? You get the point anyway. I enjoy just talking to old friends and new people I've never met before while I study or read online. Personally a new, better way of communicating would be my ideal update. But I understand that the majority of people are just fine with the way that the chat system works as is. That's life, if you want change, create change. I am not motivated enough to work out a better way to work the chat system, so I fully don't expect it to change. Be pro-active, come up with a good way to maximize your fun, then suggest it. You never know who is reading.
  6. Made my first 1k from collecting coins from fallen enemies (and going to the moss giants and picking up all the iron/steel weapons the 'high levels' didn't pick up and selling them to the general store.) Made my first 100k from pottering around and smithing and killing stuff. Made my first 1000k from running bars for musa and zephyr. Made my first 10000k from selling rune 2hers Made my first 100000k from selling items to rich people. Never really had more than that in cash, not much point. Interesting to see how others did it though, glad I took some shortcuts and invested some time into getting to know the right people. (I spent like a week trying to find musa, then asking him if I could help him out at all. I landed myself a poorly paid running job for his then wife, but it gave me a direct link to him.)
  7. Welcome to the world of opportunity costs. Give yourself a cookie, you did good! Also to the people who are saying gathering is a good way to make money. ...It's not. Even at it's best, you are going to be lucky to make 500k+ an hr, give me a level three with no skills and 1000k and i'll double it in an hr. You just gotta be smart about how you use your time and not waste it.
  8. Hehe, I can't even remember when I first started playing this game anymore. Needless to say it was way to long ago. I still remember player killing being option and getting nailed by archers on my way out of lumby as a newbie. Wanderers versus rob was fun too. Good times.
  9. It's not exactly an open discussion if the person hosting the discussion (or debate, whatever you want to call it.) Chimes in with their two cents, then prohibits people from expressing their true opinion by telling them not to admit to it. Of course people are going to say they are against it if the opening post is so blatantly against it. It's like me asking you if you like to mine, then telling you that I hate it and if you admit to it, I am going to do bad things to you. Even if I love mining, I am going to lie and and say that I in fact hate it like you do just to be accepted. Why not have an actual discussion, get to the root of the 'problem', by asking people why they lure. (Sure, the items might be handy, but they might get jollies out of it.) If you can understand that, you have a better chance of stamping the thing out and then we won't have a need for a one-sided debate. Kudos to the people who admitted to luring and think it's a good thing. At least you were brave enough to step up and admit it. To the people who have been 'lured', I bet after it happened, you didn't let it happen again. Lesson learn t, be glad you learn t it online rather than in the real world. You just saved yourself some pain. (No, I don't lure. I don't think it's a good or bad thing, you can't idiot proof a game and you shouldn't try because it makes it less fun for the rest of us.)
  10. Thanks for giving us your life story, mate. But I don't think anybody asked you for it. (Just kidding mate, i gibs u sum things to help you out plsdunhitme)
  11. Merchant for a few hours, work out how much you make on average. Then work out how many trips on average you can do at green drags, then add in what you value the combat exp at. Then pick the higher of the two =)
  12. I am looking for the fastest way to gain magic xp without HP xp. Money isn't an issue. Some ideas so far: Enchanting in the magic training arena (About 80k an hr when you can do the highest enchant) Stun (about 100k an hr) Alching (this is really slow)
  13. I am looking for a good place to cannon (lots of targets) with my 1 def newbie pure. I am also hoping to get some melee training done while I am cannoning so try and keep that in mind. Thanks in advance
  14. Isn't whip 60 attack to wield?
  15. World 111 al kahid, thats where chewy buys all your random junk. No joke, its pretty popular. I think there was another blast furnance world which was pretty popular (like 2k posts on the official forums) but it has dropped off and I don't know if a new one was created.
  16. Well, actually the maximum is 7.5 million gp. Then you take out 750K a day. However, I am not really that rich, just smart and good at finding formulas. I do not have 7.5 mill. Just to correct you, it maxes out at 75k taked out per day. I thought somebody already figured this out? Or was that only for the max take-out?
  17. It's a shame we can't use the tokens on differnt training rooms. An example could be a high HP'ed monster with low defence, or a multi zone with lots of lvl 30s for cannoning and dragon 2her special, there is alot of possibilities, but its a shame we only get an attacking shield.
  18. Hehe, I don't think it has anything to do with change being made, more that people just don't deal with their own anger well and take it out on others and keep all their praise for themselves. *Mutters* Greedy little praise keepers.
  19. My bold. Man, you whip hunters have some unresolved issue, notice the bolded bit? Notice the question mark? God damn, he is asking you a question, all it requires is a simple answer. You don't have to beat him to death for asking it.
  20. Yeah, monk fish are pretty awesome. For those of you who are ahving trouble selling, I buy raw monkfish for 325gp each. /end plug
  21. I never noticed I was a square actually
  22. Its definately worth doing, its a fairly easy 100k+ per day and it doesn't take long. I generally check my kingdom every 3-4 days and the seeds are nice. Already gotten 3 magic 1 spirit and 4 yews :).
  23. NO, real world economies are based on the resources of a given country i.e. oil or other mineral wealth. Central banks are run by these rich countries. They lend money to those countries which are deficient either in resources or the ability (wealth) to exploit them. Then they take that money back (with interest), putting already poor nations into further economic hardship.Thats why countries like the USA with vast oil & mineral deposits, as well as vast tracts of agricultural land, Great Britain, France etc. are extremely rich; whilst huge, mainly desert countries in Africa (who suffer from frequent droughts and poorly developed infrastructure) are extremely poor. But that's a whole new (off) topic. The point is, banks dont just give money out for free expecting nothing in return, Runescape DOES. If you don't believe me, either go to a bank and ask to borrow a million pounds or dollars; or go and cut down a tree and wait for it to respawn (I'm talking about REAL LIFE here) Natural resources are just one thing which contributes to a real life economy and infact with growing trade they have less and less impact. The other factors you need to consider are things like human capital, physical capital and technoligical knowledge. Most countries (if not all) have a central bank these days to help counter inflation. Also, the world bank (bank which loans money to poor countries) does this because after the second world war it was noticed that a lot of the conflict started due to economic pressure, if richer countries can remove some of this pressure then they can avoid war. Also, Australia is a huge mostly desert country and it's one of the richest per capita in the world (ranked number 10 at the moment, we used to be alot higher, damn labour government). What the orginal poster said is righter, central banks do have the ability to create cash out of thin air, though the use of buying and selling government bonds (atleast thats how they do it here). Oh and if you don't beleive me about the natural resources thing, look at Japan. It has virtually no natural resources (some fish and oil, thats about it and they are net importers of oil) and its also one of the highest grossing GDP countries in the world, with the highest growth rates in the last 50 years of on average 4.76%*. Which all had to do with huge capital investment by the Japanese government. *Source: Alan Heston, Robert Summers and Bettina Alen, Penn World Table Version 6.1
