password scam

Featured Replies

i am seeing this scam more and more these days, with the old ' look jagex bloacks your pass ********'. now, i have come up with a long and complicated way to stop this it is.....

block the asterix.

it is really simnple, and jagex have already blocked the ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã and / symbols, along with a few obscure ones too, and if all 'offensive' language was stil *'d, but one couldn't write it, this scam would stop. forever.

Back by popular demand!

And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all.

That would not work

They could just replace the asterisks with an obscenity, which would bring up the asterisks.

Sorry, but no cigar.

Also, the asterisk is used in the filtering system.

In order to block the asterisk, they'd probably have to re-work the filter...and we all know how annoying it is already.

I think, rather than trying to do something in the game, Jagex needs to work more on creating awareness of scams outside of the game.

But that's just what I think.

(Good idea though.)

Maybe if the filter just eliminated the word, leaving an empty space?

Anyways, it would be annoying if you couldn't go *Varrock, not Faldor* or something like that.

I like your idea... then people will say "jagex blocks your password, "

lol, that would be good for the system :)

I think there should be an option for filters... Like on the page with the screen brightness and stuff, add a feature like "filter, on/off". I know another game i played had that option and it really helped.

Well, the only best possible solution to stop this atm is to report the player for password scamming and ask/hope others do the same.

Blocking of asterix wouldn't work and it would be annoying as mentioned above.

The best thing you can do is to report this player for trying to persuade another player to give him his password (Rule 3).

My idea:

Maybe include an automatic system report, when player says a sentence with word "block", "jagex" and "pass"...

Hey, you have to admit that was pretty smart to think of that sentence.
