xvillexvalox
Anyone else here listen to them? If you said no you probably heard them on several comercials. M&Ms commercial had lyrics from them on it. Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy trailers had the intro of Such great heights on it. A new Honda civic commercial has the intro of We will become silhouettes. THeres more but i haven't seen or heard the other commercials.
Ryan
Didn't at least one of those commercials use Iron & Wine's original version though and not TPS's? Anyway, good band. I don't mind that they got popular I just don't like people not giving the whole album a chance.
weezcake
I saw the car commercial. Liked the combination :) The Postal Service is great. I'm a fan. Anyone heard the Shins' version of "We Will Become Silhouettes"? ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring. Phil
Didn't at least one of those commercials use Iron & Wine's original version though and not TPS's? Yes the M&M's advert used the Iron & Wine's cover of Such Great Heights. Anyway yes, I love The Postal Service. I just wish they were bringing out a new album. Anyone know if they are planning anything?

GSW told me it was the original too, but it's a cover of TPS version. :P http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_%26_Wine His cover of The Postal Service's song Such Great Heights was featured in an advertisement for M&M's, in the 2004 film Garden State (and on its popular soundtrack) and in 2006 in an Ask.com advertisement. killer_stone
I'm a big fan of Ben Gibbord's stuff. He writes some of the best lyrics I've ever heard not to mention good music. I was really dissapointed when I couldn't see The Postal Service at the Sasquatch festival last year, it was probably one of the few shows they'll be able to do since all the members are from different bands. :(
xvillexvalox
Wow. I left this topic alone from may 6th and its still on the front page. I never did think the postal service has really become popular, only for big companies which don't really help them. And yes it's the same singer as Death Cab For Cutie. The postal service was a whole bunch of people getting together with their own main bands so I don't think they'll be making anything new, but they did say they wanted to tour more. EDIT Woot! 2 different types of mods responded :)
Peter
I like The Postal Service. I found it interesting how they made the music though, with Jimmy Tamborello sending music (beats, whatever you want to call them) to Ben Gibbard via the mail (hence Postal Service), and Gibbard would remix them with his lyrics and voice on his computer, then mail them back. Gibbard has a good voice and amazing lyrics.
