Quick avvy only 2 colors!!

meh just had to give a little prod with a stick to the people who always say look only 9 colors!! and expect me to drop down dead in amazement... :roll:

 

 

 

i understand that its difficult to do but it just seems like a waste to me...

 

 

 

if useing less colors make the image come out kinda funky and non of you can deny that godslayer for all his talent (and he has boatloads) hasn't made some really nice stuff in really odd colors...

 

 

 

anyway off the subject a lil c/c all that jazz

 

 

 

[edit] i do respect gs and think alot of his work is really good its just that in my humble opinion i think that most of his pictures look better when he uses more colors

Edit1 [ i almost forgot to say, our mouse gave out and i am useing a ball mouse so alot of the lines are REALLY REALLY rough... i would clean it up but i don't have another mouse :x ]

Nice, I feel it loses some detail with it only having two colors. Three would have been better so you could have a grey in between for shading. Otherwise it looks awesome (whatever it is, I can't exactly tell.......some kinda mage thingy....yeah :oops: ).

It's a little rough around the inside where the sleeves, for example, are drawn. Keep your lines composed of single pixels like so.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, perhaps try some dithering. Here is something i did in black and white...I know it's not that great, but see how the dithering gives it a pseudo-gray color?

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyhow. Looks nice. Keep working, although, I would suggest using at least 4 colors to start out with. Even though it is do-able, two colors are still very difficult to work with.

Wait, are you criticising or praising me? Since I'm the only one I know who ever posts the amount of colors they use, it seems you misunderstand me when I say "9 colors". I don't mean, "Oh looky I'm special!!! Look!!! I'm so superior, be amazed!!!", it's just kinda a joke and a technical thing, like the dimensions. All the better to cut down on the posts asking me how many colors I use if I don't put it in in the first place.

 

 

 

Its actualy not all that difficult when you get the hang of it, and it kinda is a waste of time, but really, all pixel art is. I'm not good enough to put my art to use commercialy and its not really my ambition to, to me, its just a waste of time that I happen to enjoy. Why not place restrictions on myself, and stay true to the point of pixel art ( low colors and high detail for video games)?

 

 

 

And thats where you lose me, perhaps you should proofread your post for clarity. You say you 'if using less colors makes the image come out funky' my pieces are usualy funky not simply because they use less colors, but rather, the colors I do use are strange. Then you say you can't deny I have talent, and hasnt made good things in low colors. Ok. So?

 

 

 

Anyways, he hat is too big, it would fall over her head, he arms are too small, her jacket has no folds, her shoulder is out of perspective, and 2 colors is just too few to be effective. At least three, but 4 is ideal for super low color.

The fewer colors used in a pixel image the more it begins to i dunno degrade... its like i have seen some of your work gs when you have done a picture with something like i think it was 11 colors (?) it looked awsome then you went and you made some freaky face and it had 4 colors and looked kinda wieard...

 

 

 

Like you can make amazeing images but prefer to try and keep colors as low as possible just cause you can :wall:

Really whats wrong with using low amount of colors?

 

as long as you can make it work out right, GS can (it's a style you must appreciate in order to like it, it's good but there's a difference between good and liking)

 

+i post the amount of colors i use aswell.

if you use 2 colors and those two colors would be Black and White.. you will pretty much always fail (1 out of a million succeeds at doing something decent.)

Just turn it over, twist the disc in the arrows' directions and pull it out. Then turn it over again and catch the ball, and then clean both the ball and the interior (Just be careful with the inside)

it's not really about how many colours you use, but rather how you use the colours you'ce chosen.

Godslayer likes to do art the way he likes to do. You'll just have to live with that since a real artist will respect other artists's preferences and styles.

 

 

 

If we all drew the same, all used the same colors, all used the same style, then it would be very boring to check gallery since there'd be no variety, nothing would be surprising, and no one would have strong points in certain areas. It's nice to see people stay in the extremes. If his stuff comes out bad or good, it's not because of the amount of colors, but mostly because of the way he used the colors. This goes for anyone and their preferred amount of colors. :wink:

 

 

 

About the pic itself, you'll have to clean up the lines like Terley said. It looks pretty nice right now as flat black and white shapes and lines, but perhaps try a new version dithering as Terley first showed with his pic?

and yes i USED to have a laser mouse :x stupid thing had a short in the cord and i was pking... arrg lost one of my many skims but it still made me mad when i couldn't move that mouse and in slow mo my character was like trying to eat and couldn't :cry:

 

 

 

so then i got mad and smashed the mouse into the tabletop and then it stopped working completely :) stupid thing to do i know lol

 

 

 

anyway i plan on polishing this baby off some more tonight if i can comandere (did i spell that right?) the laser mouse from my brothers computer
