I don't like the first one much, it's kind of basic. The second one is nice with the silhouette of the tree and how it blocks the sun.

The first one doesn't seem like anything special to me but I like the second one. Only problem with both is that the sun is so bright, the camera didn't capture any detail of the ground at all. :?

Supposed to be that way :P sillhoettes* (sp?*)

Thanks everyone.

He's in a way correct, I know what you were aiming for though. Since the way this picture is contrasted and taken it, it is a silhoutte. It would look better if more grass was standing up and giving it more of a interesting horizon instead of it being so flat, but this is not your fault. Can't control the way the grass grows :P The stars added was a very nice touch, also the clouds look amazing. Did you use a standard digital camera? Not a DSLR or anything like that being my question.

Also, number one, is pretty much a lost hope, nothing you can really do to help this one. It's just there, nothing I can do to crit it. There is something I like, the one wavy very distinguish able cloud the really white one. :P

These are really good LP, keep it up and post work always help, but try and keep it to a minimum. That way we can capture the true beauty and not only help your composition but maybe help the way you shoot your photo's.

Suggestion for you mate, Canon Rebel XT (350D), with a Sigma 18mm - 200mm f/3.5-6.3 Autofocus Zoom DC Aspherical Lens. It's compatible with the Rebel XT if I'm not mistaken. You can get the body of the 350D for about 700 on Newegg, and the Sigma lens off Adorama for about 379. A large chunk of change so before you purchase the lens make sure it is fully compatible with the XT. It's an amazing camera, uses CF (Compact Flash), which you can also purchase around 1gig/2gig cards off NewEgg for about 40 to 80 bucks depending on size. Plus make sure when you buy a CF card it's write speed/read speed should be around 80x's. Hope this helps :)

Article on lenses

http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutori ... lenses.htm

The Rebel XT is great. Another good choice is the Nikon D50. The entire kit (including a standard zoom lense) costs between $500-650 CAD, but it might not be equally as good as the Rebel.

oh, thanks for that link

so i plan on doing EVERYTHING... so im guessing a nice 18mm-200mm would work

is there a good brand i should look at for nice quality lenses. i dont wanna get stuck with a high priced lense thats like 18mm-200mm and the glass is terrible.

Yeah the stock lense that comes on the Rebel is a piece, definitely a waste, but both sigma lense you have pointed out are great. I would push for 379 it's basically amazing and you'll love it. So this will push you a bit over 1000, but work a little harder and make up the difference so you can get it :) By the way, sigma is probably one of the best brands out there.
