tunaboy692004
Whats everybodys Favorite OS anyways? I know many of you will say windows XP, but is that because you have never given any others a chance? Or do you just find Windows XP to have everything you like? Personally I like windows XP Because it has some programs that other OS's cannot run. But I am Actually installing Redhat/FEDORA (a Linux DISTRO) soon, which will be a good addition :) Current Goals80/80 Fletching60/75 Woodcutting97/100 Combat

tunaboy692004
I posted this here because it is more of an opnionated question, and in my past experiences this would just go off without any posts in the tech forum. Anyways, many of the forum users do not visit tech forums often unless they have a problem, So i posted here, to see what the average user belives. If a mod strongly belives it should be moved, do so Current Goals80/80 Fletching60/75 Woodcutting97/100 Combat

the_blob23
Yeah, Windows 3.11 was good. I like most Linux variations if I want to do the really geeky stuff. Otherwise, I use a Mac.

Mr_Putter
3.11 was funny, because it was like, in a window ( ). I skipped right over 95, and went to 98, which was pretty solid too. XP has been surprisingly nice to me aswell, maybe just because I don't do anything to intensive with computers, so it doesn't have much reason to bug out on me. I'm going to be getting Vista right around launch (never done that before  ), but there's about 5 launch games that I want, and I'll probably have to put up with bugs in order to play. But I don't care ;). I'll have my new comp by then. My favorite? I'd say XP, simply because it's the one I used the most and never really pooped on me. Never tried Linux or anything, simply because I don't have a reason to.

Diminished2b
FreeBSD.. It's a great operating system. The ports system has over 15,000 ports. They have thousands of binary packages. It's stable, fast, UFS2 is a kick-[wagon] filesystem. The kernel has a whole team as developers. The TCP stacks are probably better than any other OS. Many reasons.. \

Security with windows will always be an issue. The operating system model hasn't change in years(especially for MS) and, so far, Vista isn't turning out to be anything more than Windows next bloated security nightmare. But it comes with solitare....out of the box!
Liquid_Morph
Currently Ubuntu Linux, or any variation thereof(xubuntu, etc). Windows isn't bad, but things like WGA(Windows Genuine Advantage) make me want to kill Microsoft sometimes. Did ya know someone took Microsoft to court recently about WGA? Microsoft lost and had to shed out a few $k to the guy, it was classed as spyware as it monitored something else in your PC or something. You can also disable WGA. Deleting a few files here and there, re-naming a few, and also deleting WGA from your Registry. I have. O:)
