Guest XplsvBam
Any question is relelvant when talking about something as abstract as relativity... Anyways. He never stated if he was talking about space time. Which you just assumed. But if you are at rest you are only traveling through time. Might be a little abstract for your pee brain but thats ok, bare with me. Pending Question... when you are at rest, and still traveling through time, you dont talk in terms of speed. you talk in terms of minutes, hours, days ect. if he was talking just about space, and not about time, you dont talk in terms of speed either. you talk in terms of measurments such as meter, inches, yard. he was looking for speed, which deals with both space and time. i dont know why i decided to explain th at, since you argument followed the ad hominem debate fallacy by saying i have a "pee brain" (lol, you said pee brain, not pea brain  ) and therefore your argument is automatically invalid (besides for the fact it doesnt make sense).Your head is filled with urine, so it is valid. Since you were clever enough to post a definition of speed I might as well, just for kicks and giggles. Definitions of speed: a rate (usually rapid) at which something happens; "the project advanced with gratifying speed" So I guess if you are moving through at a rate (seconds, minutes, ect.) it can be considerd a speed. Since the only certain constant is light I guess we are in quite a debate here huh? Don't worry about replying back, your answers to a simple question have been quite constant themselves (ignorant to a simple idea...). Don't worry I fully understand what you are saying, I just don't get what you are trying to say. If you are trying to say that my question isn't worth the time for a simple yes or no just because of A definition of speed, I dont know, maybe grow up? pending question... (reserved question for topic starter.) If you decide to reply indy try not to put to much ignorant bs into it.

Since you were clever enough to post a definition of speed I might as well, just for kicks and giggles. look up ad hominem in a dictionary, you completly missed the point of what i was saying. Definitions of speed: a rate (usually rapid) at which something happens; "the project advanced with gratifying speed" So I guess if you are moving through at a rate (seconds, minutes, ect.) it can be considerd a speed. rate is a magnitude or frequency relative to a time unit, or rate=something/time. time is not a rate. If you are trying to say that my question isn't worth the time for a simple yes or no just because of A definition of speed, I dont know, maybe grow up? what does the constant of light have to do with anything wwe are talking about?l the definition of speed deals with distance/time. your question still doesnt make any sense. it doesnt get a yes or no answer because it doesnt make sense. If you decide to reply indy try not to put to much ignorant bs into it. nothing i have said so far has been ignorant, or bs, so i have no idea what you are talking about. lay off with the insults too, we dont care for them all that much here. Definition of Rate: a quantity or amount or measure considered as a proportion of another quantity or amount or measure; "the literacy rate"; "the retention rate"; "the dropout rate" As you can see rate isn't JUST measure. It can also be an amount, like seconds, minutes... I do apologize for the insults I really didn't mean it, I don't know why I called you a pee brain. I guess I was just frustrated with your ignorance. I don't see how "Are you talking about space or time?" is a bad question. Seems legit to me. It dosn't really matter to me anymore because I know there isn't just one answer like this topic starter claims.
indy500fan
Definition of Rate: a quantity or amount or measure considered as a proportion of another quantity or amount or measure; "the literacy rate"; "the retention rate"; "the dropout rate" that proves my point, a proportion would be y/z, where y ans z are units of measure. in the case of speed, the rate will be distance/time. bantam222
The Earth rotates once in a few minutes under a day (23 hours 56 minutes 04. 09053 seconds). This is called the sidereal period (which means the period relative to stars). The sidereal period is not exactly equal to a day because by the time the Earth has rotated once, it has also moved a little in its orbit around the Sun, so it has to keep rotating for about another 4 minutes before the Sun seems to be back in the same place in the sky that it was in exactly a day before. An object on the Earth's equator will travel once around the Earth's circumference (40,075.036 kilometers) each sidereal day. So if you divide that distance by the time taken, you will get the speed. An object at one of the poles has hardly any speed due to the Earth's rotation. (A spot on a rod one centimeter in circumference for example, stuck vertically in the ice exactly at a pole would have a speed of one centimeter per day!). The speed due to rotation at any other point on the Earth can be calculated by multiplying the speed at the equator by the cosine of the latitude of the point. (If you are not familiar with cosines, I wouldn't worry about that now, but if you can find a pocket calculator which has a cosine button you might like to try taking the cosine of your own latitude and multiplying that by the rotation speed at the equator to get your own current speed due to rotation!). Anyway...to answer your question, the average movement of any object on Earth is at 107226.435986159169 kilometres per day. Fadfdfd
Im going as fast as the earth is! Show off. =; Why are you being mean to me today? Why!!! Lol he's not being mean :D. I found that pretty funny. You're basically saying, "I'm as good as the Earth!" and we know how good the Earth is! It's huge. You're basically saying your Superman.
