Techo Sugestions?

I've always liked techno a good bit, but I have never actualy known any good bands/whatever.

Anyways, as far as what I like :

I love the instrumental stuff that is in Half life 2. The techno in that game is great (its short, not an actual song but I like it.) I'm currious if there is anything like that (I realy have no idea what the word would be for it, but half life 2 has a bit 'heavier' techno you could say... if that's realy possible).

I'm also a huge metal head (all kinds of metal) if that helps for recomendations.

Hopefully some of you out there will be able to recomend some good stuff to me. :)

I occasionally run across a lot of german techno bands out there.

A lot of them are pretty good!

Don't know any names though... :?

In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.

I'm not really an expert, maybe you should check out UNDERWORLD. Maybe they're a bit what you're looking for. I'll ask some friends when I see them; they vissit a lot of techno parties and they're really 'into it'. I bet they can give me some albums that are worth it to check out. :)

Special D...That's a German kid who makes very, very lame dance music for children...Right? You shouldn't try Scooter either. Yuck.

I'm a big metalhead myself. :D

Tiesto is a good techno Dj, he's pretty big in the techno underworld.

Daft Punk and Dirty Vegas are two techno bands who've had a few hits in the mainstream.

Some unknown, yet good bands are Acidiks, 9 Feet of Smoke, Kess St. Kess, and Audioholic.

Purevolume and My space are good sites for looking up fresh underground music. And some bands allow you to download them. Therefore putting them onto your ipod/mp3 player.

Nadril, what kind of techno do you like? Ones with lyrics or without, or both? I like both, but if you dont mind those without, i might be able to find you some techno sounding music wich is just remixes of FF songs. They are usaly preatty good.

Why haven't I noticed this thread before? I'm a techno-junkie.

Pendulum.

= junlge

But true, it's fantastic, I love it. If you like that, you MUST get some stuff from Aphrodite as well. Some of The Prodigy's work is great jungle/techno as well.

sandstorm

Harder, better, faster, strong...

Im currently lookin for some techno as well.

Sandstorm? That's from Darude, right? That's certainly no techno, it's house, or perhaps you could say it's trance. Pretty much crap IMHO... Even I can make that with the right program. It's like that overhyped DJ Tiesto =;

My advice: if you really want to get into techno, go for some electro first. Kraftwerk of course are the pioneers, but if you're easily distracted, it gets kinda boring after a while. You should also try Daft Punk, the Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Fatboy Slim, the more mainstream stuff. Some good DJs are DJ Shadow, DJ Hell, Dave Clarke, Miss Kittin, Sven VÃÆÃâÃâäth, Richie Hawtin, Marco Bailey, T. Raumschmiere, Roger Sanchez, Laurent Garnier, Fisherspooner, Vitalic, Tiga, 2 Many DJs (aka Soulwax, inventors of the mash-ups), LCD Sounsystem, ...

If you like a mix of softer techno with rock, post-rock is what you need. Sigur RÃÆÃâÃâós, Massive Attack, Mogwai... Absolutely fantastic music.

* in fat are my favourites :)

Bill Hicks[/url]":dhj2kan9]Since the one thing we can say about fundamental matter is, that it is vibrating. And since all vibrations are theoretically sound, then it is not unreasonable to suggest that the universe is music and should be perceived as such.
