They halfed the xp for Crumble shortly after slayer came out. the Slayer staff allowed it to be autocast so Jagex halfed the xp to prevent it from becomeing in unbalance way to train.

Just to point out, it's crumble undead, not crumple.

I do believe the base xp is actually higher with crumble undead than with fire bolt, and someone also told me that you get 2xp per damage done, so from that I'd think cumble undead would be a better choice if you had the slayer staff that you could autocast it. Fire bolt however can be used on anything, and can be autocast, so maybe thats a better option.

As far as I know, you first got around 50 exp per Crumble Undead spell because it was messed up. Later, it was reverted to 24.5 (according to Jagex KB), but it's still better thatn fire bolt (base 21.5)

This signature is intentionally left blank.

A lot of confusion in this thread.

The base exp for Crumble undead was cut in half more than 1 year ago.

But the overall exp from crumble is BaseExp + 2*HitDone with an average exp of about 39.

Jagex was fixing an error that they made in the spell.

Crumble was giving more Exp, with a lesser rune (Chaos),

than the average best Death rune based spell.

Since Crumble could be auto-cast with a slayer staff, players were

autocasting with full armor on (to fail and keep the monster alive)

and getting great exp.

So, Jagex cut the base exp in half (now 24.5) to be more in line with

the base exp of the other Chaos rune based spells.

The base exp of the best Bolt spell is 22.5

So, now the exp earned from Crumble is more in line with Chaos and Death rune based spells.

So for F2P players without the Chaos gauntlets we have the following optimistic exp:

Mind rune: Fire Strike: 19.5 average exp per cast

Body rune: Curse always gives 29 exp per cast

Chaos rune: Fire Bolt averages 34.5 exp per cast

Chaos rune: Crumble Undead averages 39.5 exp per cast

Death rune: Fire Blast averages 50.5 exp per cast

The Strike, Bolt, and Blast spells can be Autocast when wielding an elemental staff.

Crumble Undead can be auto-cast when wielding the Slayer staff.

Btw, the magic exp table that Tip It uses has had the wrong exp

value listed for Crumble Undead for a loooong time.

Hope this helps

Firebolt base exp is 34.5 exp,

No, it's 22.5 without chaos gauntlets.

The long term average exp given by Fire Bolt is about 34.5.

and crumble undead is 24.5 xp.

True

Both gives 2 exp per damage,

True

don't post incorrect information :shame:

Good advice, you ought to follow it...

Crumble Undead can only be cast on skeletons, ghosts, and zombies.

Mostly True

...It probably depends on if you're training one of those three monsters.

No.

You can't cast at all if it's not one of the allowed undead monsters.

You can also try the Tip.It Magic Guide or the Search button for help.

Except that there are a few well documented errors in that guide in spite

of numerous corrective posts in the Website Update & Corrections forum...

i never knew fire bolt was better ...that stinks.. i just wasted like 900 chaos on crumble undead :ohnoes: :boohoo: :wall:

Fire Bolt averages 34.5 mage exp per cast

Crumble Undead averages 39.5 mage exp per cast

So if you cast Crumble, then you did the right thing.

Hope this helps

Since there seems to be a lack of clarity, here is exactly what the kbase says

fire bolt is 21.5 base exp, with a max hit of 12 (15 if you're using chaos guantlets)

crumble undead is 24.5 base exp, with a max hit of 15

you also get 2 exp for each point of damage that you do

so... both spells use one chaos rune, while fire bolt uses 3 air runes (assuming you're using fire staff) and crumble undead uses either 2 air or earth runes (either air or earth staff) that makes crumble undead an indistinguishably amount cheaper than fire bolt, in addition to giving a bit more exp. Of course, you can autocast fire bolt, which speeds up training considerably. If you feel like dishing out 2 earth and air runes and feel like paying 21k (ish?) and making the huge investment in time for 55 slayer, feel free to use a slayer staff to autocast crumble undead.

Since there seems to be a lack of clarity, here is exactly what the kbase says

fire bolt is 21.5 base exp,

Unfortunately, this only muddied the waters a bit because the knowledge base is wrong.

The base magic experience for fire bolt is 22.5

It's easy enough to check. You can put on any full metal armor to get at

least -65 magic attack and then go and cast on a monster.

You will fail every time and earn only the base magic exp.

20 casts of Fire bolt will earn you 450 exp which is 22.5 for each cast.

...you also get 2 exp for each point of damage that you do

True

The exp can be given all to Magic or split equally between Magic

and Defense depending on the casting style that you use with your staff.

IIRC, the third choice in casting, Defense, will split the overall exp.

Hope this helps

Well no, I already said that it can also be cast upon shades. It might also work on ghouls, I'm not sure about them though.

EDIT:I realise, I had actually said that in another post. It still stands though, the spell can be used on shades in mort'ton.

Since there seems to be a lack of clarity, here is exactly what the kbase says

Actually, I thought Goobore had clarified it quite well with his earlier post.
