killmenub
Yeah i was thinking it was a bit over exagorated (sp?) with 1000+ sit ups a day, i've done 80 today so far plus found a site with movies on how to do stomach crunches etc... Done as many stomach crunches i could do for each side... and as i stated above but someone argued it said "if you over do these exercise's you gain stomach pains the next day." *hopes to keep motivated* Also played 3 hours of world cup (football) today >.> Tired... blade995
1. Football practice, 4-5 times a week, you get a great work out from that. I also run a lot. I do about about 2 sets of 150-200 sit ups a day and a lot of push ups. I find the football practice a lot harder than my own work out because you can just quit when you want there :P . 2. You have to do more than 40 sit ups a day. If thats all you can do for now try to do 2 sets of 30 or 40 a day. Then the next week increase it to maybe 50 or 60 in 2 sets and so on. For each workout don't over do it or you will be too tried to work out again and will just slow down your progress. Another good exercise I do is called 6 inches I learned from football. It's when you hold your legs up 6 inches off the ground (laying on your back) straight out and hit your stomach holding it as long as you can. If it's easy after a minute, your doing it wrong. Bludragon124
i have a sick six pack ^_^ i just do 50 sit ups every night and every morning, plus i am on the swim team just about the whole year. the swim team excersises your abs alot, you do dry-land and do about 100 push ups, and about 200 sit ups. then you get in the water and you do what your coach tells you to for an hour and a half ^_^ Noted raw mackerel drop... killmenub
I'm trying to increase amount of sit ups i do every day while continueing to play football, not sure how long i'll keep it up, but meh. IGN: HesFearless. -Jamie
woopidoo2
Motivation is one of the biggest reasons that people quit. So thats something you need (you can search google for motivation on excersize) Personally I think of the result, it helps to me. (i dont know how much you weigh) but it could be that you have to less fat to get big muscles, just because your body cant ''make the muscles'' I try to do as much sit ups when I really cant do one more, before going to bed. but thats discussed allready :-# Good luck : [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]
Guest TaDaraCampbell
Wow a lot of posts in 1 night  When i was doing 40 sit ups a night, i was like 13, now i'm 16 havent done sit ups for over 2 years, i've kept in shape by purly playing football, until 2 nights ago when i decide to do sit ups again. When you start doing sit ups you can't do 100+ as your get cramps in your stomach the next day and will have a painful day (trust me i know). First day i restarted i did 45 before bed. Yesterday i did 20 in morning, 25 at around 4 and 45 more before bed, also done a hell or a lot of walking. Today at 11am ive done 20 this morning, hope to do 30 this after and 50 tonight, see how i'm building it up? I'm pretty sure i'm going in the right direction, and about body fat, i'm probly about 8% body fat, i'd post a picture if i could, i basically have hardly any fat... you don't get cramps... :? its only a few hundred sit ups, nothing to it... guess this proves how much more athletic other sports are compared to football : but really, do atleast 100 pushups a day, and atleast 500 situps, there's nothing to it, and can be done in less than an hour, also remember, cereal is good and is good for you :3> (fiber, minerals, calcium, all of those vitamins) : God, there's so much bullcrap coming from this thread. 1,000 sit ups a night, give me a break. it's not bullcrap, i had motivation, i wanted a six pack and one of my friends said she likes boys with muscles so.. o, also, x-mas break was boring and i had nothing to do. also, if your having trouble with push ups, do what i did, do as many as you can, until you feel like your arms are about to fall off :XD:, then do 10-25 more.. oh, and remember, diamond push ups are great for you, and easier to do, but you have to remember to always touch your chest to the ground, otherwise you have to do that one over again :
killmenub
You do get cramps, it even says it on all the exercise sites i've checked out :| And football takes a lot of fitness, just a different fitness compared to sit ups, footballs totally different and is a very demand sport, try playing 3 hours of football - like a match and your see how tiring it can be. Done 100 sit ups yesterday + 30 crunches for each side, wont probly do much today tired lol... IGN: HesFearless. -Jamie

okay60
My xc (cross country) coach always told us that you can do sit ups until the cows come in (forever) but you'll never get a six-pack. The secret to six-packs is core workouts, some of which involve those huge exercise balls. It's all very complicated but also running helps get you into shape a ton. Start out with 2 miles and work your way up, you get sore but you get over it. In fact I'm going to xc camp in a couple days for a week so I can see exactly what you do in a core workout. Also ab workouts are good too. You do a variation of things. If you want to go hardcore with these workouts do a 10 minute ab workout (aahhh). What you do is do one thing for 30 seconds (time yourself or get someone to time you) then switch to something different. Some of the things are butterfly kicks, bicycle pedals, crunches, full sit-ups, 6 inches (keep your legs at least 6 inches off the ground but not too high off the ground), leg lifts, pilattis (probably spelt that wrong), and much, much more. I was 13 when i was doing them, while i played atleast a hour of football a day, and you didnt even read my thread properly, as i wasn't doing push ups, i was doing sit ups, so you make yourself look like more of an idiot? You can get a six pack from purely playing football, i'm doing this daily, plus with walking, with the added sit ups i do (100 daily now) and as many crunches i can do for each side... I don't expect to be 'buff' in a week, not even in a month, but after 4 months of 100 sit ups a day with football i expect something ;) Kthxbai. Maybe I'm wrong but if you guys *all* do this then how am I who does none of this sit up and excercises stuff except for playing squash twice a week and occasionally have a kick about outside not really fat and unhealthy? I never said I was fat and unhealthy. The Phys Ed course during the school year helps me build up my stamina and muscles. Since I don't want to lose the stamina I built up during school year, I continue to train during the summer. I run an average of 4 times a week and go swimming at least once a week. It's not something unbelievable. Just because you prefer to stay inside when you have spare time, it doesn't mean everyone else does it like you. Besides, a typical stereotype of geeks or nerds are pale, and built with skin and bones, not saying you are one though. It's not rare to be thin while doing nothing and it's not rare to find active people out of the thousands that go here. But I do agree that people who do 1,000 sit ups is a bit unbelievable. Not to mention dumb. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
Cloaked_Shadow
I do about 280 push ups everyday: i start with 10, then 20, then 30, 40, 50, 60, and finally 70. (chest and tri's) I also do crunches: first 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100. (does the abs pretty well, pretty much how i got my six pack) then pull ups an chin ups: 20x5 each. 100 each, basically. (bulks up your bicep and defines ur back muscles) Im not massive, but my muscles are all really well defined. im probably not massive because i dont well enough...so i need tips on that. and karate. which is for fun. Edit: *EAT well enough Edit2: I'm pretty sure there are flaws in my system, so to seasoned bodybuilders: any help with what to do is appreciated. ....AND, let me know what workouts will help me out more, and which workouts will put pressure on any growth plates (Because I'm only thirteen, and...i wanna grow...) ... 00 Quanta
I go to the gym everyday for at least 2 hours. I once spent about 6 hours there with my friend which when I came home I took a long nap right away. I do about 120 sit ups. I got a 6 pack in about 3 weeks, been having one since 8th grade lol (not easy, u gotta really do sit-ups everyday) I work out my upper body and lower body. At the end I jog for 2 straight hours (if I work out 4 hours) My most sit-ups I ever did was 2,226(competition against friend) and most push ups I did was 314 (competition also, lost though lol) I can bench press 240 lbs 5 times but I do 135 benching 75 times. I mostly like playing tackle football (without pads) against my friends o my day off of work
BenBru
To those of you saying doing 1000 sit-ups is dumb, you might be right, because doing sit-ups isnt too smart, since you can do WAY more crunches, thus working your abs more than sit-ups. Also to those of you saying we like to show off and wildly exaggerate (sp?) I do show off, why shouldnt I? It takes major dedication to do the things I do almost every day (save the break that I take every 4-5 days) I should be able to show off without being insulted for it. Is it so bad that people want others to know that they have this decication by having a nice body? I want to look good, you may not, but dont insult me for it. I just finished my workout, and I am feeling great. I just want you all to know right now, for those of you who've shown you lack reading skills: SIT-UPS AND CRUNCHES ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS ! I am an Atheist, and I take pride in it.
Rebdragon
God, there's so much bullcrap coming from this thread. 1,000 sit ups a night, give me a break. Eh, if I had to take a bet I'd say that about 50% of what people are saying is true. BenBru, that may be true, but don't act so pompous and arrogant about it. Meh, I got an okay four pack, mainly because I just finished summer soccer conditioning (I don't really work out other than soccer lol). I went to the gym with the team 3 times a week for like an hour each day, but even after that my muscles didn't get all that much bigger (though I think my abs look much better). If I didn't get amazing results from a summer of soccer conditioning, don't be surprised if 40 crunches doesn't do much :XD: . Guest TaDaraCampbell
wierd thing was, when i was doing a few hundred sit ups a day, my sis introduced me to crunches, i tried doing those thinking, pfft, you don't even have to go as far as a sit up, this should be easy, I could only do 40
Make7upu101
About a year ago I used to do a small workout at night with just push-ups and sit-ups. I kept adding more every few nights till the routine got to be taking up about half an hour of my time. It got so long I just stopped. Now I run whenever I have some spare time. I dont really care about having muscles for some reason. All I care about is staying pretty fit.
killmenub
Wow i should pay more attention to my threads, keep the flaming down please? If people think they can do 1000 sit ups good for them. And i think most people know theres a difference between crunches and sit ups, i personally find sit ups easier. I've been doing 100 sit ups every day since i've made this thread and the day before i made it, been doing as many crunches as i can (which is about 20-30 for each side) and today i started to try and do diamond push ups. Go to wales on Monday as going to cousins wedding, 6 hour car journey, lets hope this thread stays clean, and that i find time to do sit ups ^^.
