I think that they will have launched Runescape 3, which will have graphics similar to WoW or Everquest (If they switch from Java Applet to another platform), about 7 new skills will be released. They'll change the login screen, the world will be expanded a large amount. There's probably going to be a whole new way to battle monsters that requires more thought.

These are my predictions:

 

 

 

2008: The scammer and marcroer population shall increase from 60% to 99.99%

 

 

 

2010:JaGex towers will collapse from all the weight of their computers they had to get to cope with all the macroers.

 

 

 

2011:RS3 will come out and everything bad shall be crushed, banned and assasinated by JaGex's proffesional hit squad.

There will be like, 10 party hats in the entire game and obsessed nerds are murdering people in real life for them :shock:

I believe that unless jagex keeps up with new technology and promotion of the game, numbers playing the game will dwindle. However as they are going at the moment the word of mouth, free player side of the game and regular updates are adequatly addressing the above issues. Therefore i believ that in the future there will be an rs3 with much better graphics and possible new skills, however the game will probably remain largely the same with the odd quest update and graphics change etc.

In 5 years (or maybe more), runescape will be on virtual reality and we'll fight monsters and it will be like real!!! :XD:

But on the remote chance that it'll, this is how I envision it:

 

 

 

Runescape would be a full virtual world, with complete user-programable content. You will put on your virtual glasses and intact with the game through your own movement. The gameplay would be a cross between second-life and the SIMS. Being a respected player on Runescape get you street-cred in Compton, and high level staking is pod-casted and shown on HBO premium on weekly-bases by professional runescape players.

It will cater to the 5 year olds that play. There will be lots of balloons, and rainbows, and moonbeams! And you can't die. Thats a bad thing! And everyone is perminately muted. Because a few words are bad. And Jagex can't risk people typing them. :shock:
