to any other bodybuilders out there

I found my calling as a bodybuilder over the summer. I've been in the gym ever since summer started, I began working with a personal trainer who really busted my [wagon] and I'm still going there almost everyday now that school has started. My trainer put me on some vitamins and protein shake that was a little heavy in price (80-90$ a month i think it was) so I stopped taking them. Does anybody on these forums weight lift alot like I do and do they take any sorts of vitamins or protein things to give them energy or whatever they are suppose to do in the gym? If so what are they and do they work? lol

There are no magic pills that will make you big.

I'd say that a decent diet would be just as good as taking protein supplements - you could have a few more eggs than normal perhaps. The main thing is just working damn hard.

I'm hardly a bodybuilder though, I just like to keep fit.

there are several drugs you could take.. one of the best known are anabolic androgen steroid hormones. its THE drug amongst bodybuilders. you need a prescription for them where i live, and it is not allowed for doping etc.

to be quite honest... dont take any. in my opinion its not worth it. but if you want to be one of these muscleman.

Imstead of 10 50 pounds why not 100 5 pounds.

Because he wants to build strength... To do that you should use low reps at high weight. High reps at low weight tones the muscle, removes fat around it.

Really? Awesome information...

If thats true: Can someone with experience tell me what weight exercises will stunt growth? Right now im very well defined because of weightless exercises (Push-ups, chin-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, etc.) and i want to know if its alright to build strength with weights at my age.

(13 years old, by the way.)

Thanks in advance.

I don't know the medical facts, but I've been told that it isn't wise to do much (and I don't know just how much 'much' is) weight training before you've finished growing. I wouldn't advise doing it before you're 16 at least.

youll be fine, when they say dont workout at a young age it means nothing major until around your age. If your working out like crazy at the age of 10 or lower thats going to be bad. If your done growing you should be fine.

In the US those are illegal and can cause your balls to shrink, have heart attacks, all sorts of horrible side effects.

Unless your going for competitive body building then I wouldn't suggest you take anything unnatural to build you muscles. I do weights and I'm a simular age to you.

Yeah you really shouldn't take those anabolic androgen steroid hormones.

I'm mainly just talking about things that will give me energy to work and that have a nice protein content to help build the muscle a bit quicker and more effectively.

Vitamin B12 for energy. Tuna, chicken, etc etc for protein. You should eat 1g of protein per pound you weigh, or at the very least, half of a gram per pound if you really would like to bulk up. I couldn't tell you anything else other than B12 to use for energy because it could probably have something negative in it like caffeine or sugar and crap....B12 is very common in certain energy drinks and doctors often give B12 injections for anemia. If you're talking about Creatine or something...Don't take it. Creatine and Steroids are notoriously not good for you. Forget lowering your sperm count, if you carry the acne gene like 85%+ of people do, you'll be very likely to get nodular acne, and you DON'T want that. :P That's the kind that leaves those scars on your face like Brad Pitt has.

Don't over-work yourself, either. ;) Get your sleep.

Ever seen him without perfect make-up and lighting? He has giant pits (no pun intended) on his face from acne. I have NO idea why everyone thinks he's so good looking, because he looks like a normal dude to me. I wouldn't trade my looks for Brad Pitt's, that's for sure....I'd trade financial situations, yes...:P

You should wait til you are at least 15 til you start training hard as your bones are still developing and it can cause major problems. Normal training is said to be ok but bodybuilding isn't a good idea.

And in relation to heart problems from eggs, for a decent meal have like 2 yolks and however many whites you want... but you shouldn't have more than 2 yolks a day.

Google "weight training too young" for further info.

I am 16 and i have been weightlifting for the last 2 years. I don't go over the top and don't train too hard 'cos im still growing and i don't wanna have any problems in the future.

I take protien shakes which are absalutely disgusting and i eat alot of protien, such as chicken, eggs...you don't need to take protien shakes, they are just more convinient because they are quick and easy, there are many things you can eat to improvise and it's cheaper :)

I have got a few of my mates into weightlifting and we occasionaly have sort of arm wrestling comps between us, i win all the time lol :D

My personal best deadlift is just over 20 stone at a friends house, but we ran out of weights.

btw, wakka, heres my hotmail addy: [email protected] if you wanna add

I'd trade the little bit of soul that I have for the body he was showing in fight club

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

One guy I was wrestling with gained like 10 pounds of muscle in his back and neck from working out and taking creatine I think once a day. It was pretty crazy, and for that I'm sure its not healthy even if you do drink tons of water.

I'd do that too. I'm far too lazy to work out usually. I got all my muscle from Tae Kwon Do, skating, skiing and snowboarding when I was younger...The last couple years of laziness has took some of that away, though. <.<

But I'll keep my face, thanks. He probably gets collegen injections in his face like every couple months. In some movies, where he plays the bad guy (Interview with a vampire, for example), his scars are easily seen, but otherwise, they're not. Leads me to believe he gets injections done, but those are no where near permanent.

I've been working out for a while now, I don't take any bodybuilding vitamins but I have a protein rich diet, which is all they basically are.

I don't see the point in lifting to excess, I still try and keep my cardio in good shape by running and cycling, and I do karate to focus my strength and mind and learn how to use it.

This combination of things works well in rugby, which was why I started working out.

I know a lot of guys who just did bench reps all the time and took protein pills, and I admit that they've got huge pecs, but that's it and they're useless if the rest of your body isn't up to scratch.
