August 31, 200619 yr Hello, Im currently in the process of making a mage pure. He will use runecrafting to make runes etc so no drop trading will be involved. Now I was just wondering what I should lvl def wise? 1. Should I bother with str / att or leave it be? 2. What def would be ideal? 3. If I do need to train def to that certain lvl, Should I do it before I gain any mage lvls? Plus is there any do/'s or dont's I should remember...? Memory can be a little rusty at times :P. Obviously if I needed def and for example I needed 40 def, That would take quite a while if I had 1 att / str? All help and advice is appreciated. Its worthwhile noting that I am f2p and will remain f2p for quite a while with this character. Thanks for your time.
August 31, 200619 yr A range pure has ranged, hp and def. a str pure has str and hp... and a MAGE pure has magic and hitpoints, since that is what lvls the total lvl... at least i think so. Anyway, you need defence for any char... no matter if its a pure or not. so... i would say 40 is pretty good, and not that hard to get too, if you are using an iron scimmy or 2 hander. August 31, 200619 yr Well, first you should tell us whether or not the pure will be member or not, since the tactics are a bit different on members compared to f2p. However, i assume at least first you will be f2p and i'll tell you how i'm building my pure: -40 att and str -1 def and pray - as high mage and range as i can raise without getting any combat levels (use tip.it combat calc for this) Then i'm going to raise str to about 70 and train mage and range again. Then attack 70 and members with mage and range training. Going to do desert treasure for ancients, lost city for dragon dagger and monkey maddness for d scim. Then 85+ str. There you have it, a good average built pker. :) Also there is a good guide on graveyard discussions, it's stickied. i really recommend you read it. On this char im looking for something different, A self reliant player / pker, Thanks for the help though.
September 1, 200619 yr You should be either mage/range or mage/melee for the advantages in the wilderness, and because you need hitpoints For f2p: 1 att 1 def 1 str 70 range 70 mage around 55 hp 1 prayer For p2p: 70 attack 70 strenght 1 def 1 range 70 mage around 65hp 1/34/43 prayer. September 1, 200619 yr If you're training mage with a combat spell autocast and you want defense just set your staff to Focus (Defensive Crush) while auto casting. This'll get you defs and mage xp. We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.
September 1, 200619 yr Well i have been testing with higher defence maging... i sugest 40 defence, try nomally doing it and auto casting for def lvs. once you get to 40 defence and your desired magic lv you should then get a rune med, rune kite, and mage top, monk bottem, your staff and a magic ammy, you should have about 5+ magic bonus, but if you have enough magic lvs you can own anybody in rune and you shouldent die till you run out of runes.... And I forgot to mention you should get atleast 30 defence before you get your magic lv up, use the Tip it calculator to figure out a way to get your defence up before you magic starts to effect your combat lv
September 1, 200619 yr Err... If your attack and defence are lvl 1 then DON'T try to train def with melee. That's a real no-brainer really :-k You can train defence with the normal Defensive attack option using Autocast. I suggest getting 40 attack, 60+ Str, 40 defence (make sure you do dragon slayer before you get 40 def, as you get 18k xp from it), High mage (70+). The reason for the melee stats is: If someone melees/mages you while they are wearing d hides you WILL get owned. If they do this, melee them for a while, wearing full rune.
