September 3, 200619 yr History and Summoning PWN J00!!! :o WARNING:I hope you have a bigger attention span than the local ogre, becuse this is one long post! For the love of guthix, PLEASE use proper english. It's hard reading giberish... Hello! I'm Buckeyemange. As some of you know, recently, our friends at Jagex releaced an overview of the history of the land we call runescape. It can be found in the knowledge base. I really reccomend you read this, as it has a couple of very interesting points. I found a few about summoning, and a few other things I took from the page, most very interesting... Rememeber, These are just a few things, three more ages came before these, and you should read them. Many more paragraphs are there, i just grabed my favorites. After you read mine, of course. From "The fourth age" ~To make things even harder there were tales of strange undead necromancers who arose from time to time, summoning armies of undead skeletons and zombies which swept across the land destroying all in their path.~ ~During the early parts of the Fourth Age most of the humans lived in nomadic tribes, battling to stay alive against each other and against the tribes of other races. Over time they started to make more permanent settlements throughout the world, but they continued to have to war with their neighbours.~ ~The human mages learnt how to create powerful magical stones known as runestones. They began to create them in large numbers. How they made the runestones was kept a closely guarded secret between just a few of the mages so as not to let the information fall into enemy hands.~ From "The fifth age" ~Thus was the world in relative equilibrium for the next 100 years, the three great kingdoms held off all invaders. Most notable among these invaders was a mysterious and powerful undead necromancer whose army of skeletons and zombies launched an attack on the city of Varrock. "The Fifth age continued" ~For a period things were looking very good for the human kingdoms. Some people tried to stand in the way of their expansion, most notably a wave of invading barbarians who objected to the use of runestones and rampaged through Northern Kandarin and Asgarnia, but the runestones were powerful enough that the kingdoms could deal with all that came their way.~ ~At this time the wizards allowed followers of Zamorak among their number, which proved to be a foolish mistake. At a summit in the Wizards' Tower most of the powerful mages were gathered - but the Zamorakian mages betrayed them, igniting a great fire which razed the tower to the ground. Most of the great wizards were killed, and their great library which stored the key to much of their power was also destroyed.~ ~Still, there were plenty of runes left in the world. Enough that the existing kingdoms were able to adequately defend themselves from invaders, though they no longer wished to expend runes to expand their borders any further.~ ~Following the burning of the tower there was a massive backlash against Zamorak's followers, who had previously been tolerated, if not exactly welcomed. In many areas the Zamorakians quickly became outcasts who had to hide away from the rest of the world, though the black knights of the Kingdom of Asgarnia still held much political sway in that land.~ ~The year is now 169 in the Fifth Age, but the wizards are worried that the most powerful runes they had used to protect the kingdoms are running low. The enemies of Misthalin, Asgarnia and Kandarin are beginning to find footholds in their lands again within dark corners everywhere. New heroes must arise to maintain order and to stop the collapse of civilisation under the forces of evil!~ So, a few interesting tidbits... 1. Tales speak of an undead necromancer summoning hordes of monsters to kill many. 2. The Human development of runestones. These were the main weapon against the barbarians. But, how did the gnomes get them? Can they make them to? Was it some kind of trade? 3.Most knew this, but, Zamorackians burned the first wizards tower. Which led to their being shuned thing. 4. From the 5th age, "New heroes must arise to maintain order and to stop the collapse of civilisation under the forces of evil!" A new minigame? Or just a statement meaning the players of today? 5. Now we know the year we're in, for runescape. 169 (or 174, RS is 5 years old). 6. I like cake. Nothing to do with the thread, just throwing it in there. 7. We know know how we defeated the babbarians (NOT Freminecks!) when they attacked great citys. With magic! Is this why the hate wizards and runestones? 8 As said by Light365, in response to this quote Necromancy/Summoning has been confirmed by Jagex already so it should come out at some point in time. ~~~~~~~ I'd like to know where to find this quote, since i once saw a mod saying something about it being very contreversial. I think this means they won't put it into the game since it revolves around religion. They changed the demonic symbols near taverly dungeon because some people complained about them. Though they may be able to give it a new name and some nice, hygenic process to go through summoning. 9. Summoning exists in two places now, one north of port kazard, and the other south of falador. Also, the south falador one has transformation-illisuion magic, turning you into fungi... 10. The following, found by Arch Tyrant (Thanks!) A release from Jagex̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ DEVLOPMENT PLANS OF MARCH 31st, 2004 Now that we have finished our big game engine update we can finally get back to producing regular updates to the game. September 3, 200619 yr summoning always has looked interesting to me, ever since i read that "behind the scenes" I have been wondering if / when it will be introduced , and in what manner , A new spell menu, a new skill? some other way? And I have always wondered why the demonic symbols had been changed , thanks for clearing that one up for me. And does just copying and pasting the URL from firefox / internet explorer into your sig work?
September 3, 200619 yr How do I make links to my threads in my sig? I have two I would like to put there... #-o TEXT HERE Back by popular demand! And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all.
September 3, 200619 yr Interesting, thanks for the quick history brush up. I think summoning would be very interesting if it were to be brought in the game. I don't know if I would like it or not.
September 3, 200619 yr I beleve that summoning will come out sooner of later. If i rember right in 2004 they also promised POH and a few other things. Summoninh is one of two(not sure) things still not done yet. I will shoot down any one with my bitting wit, and sarcasm! What POSSIBLE reason would someone have to make a fake like that?Does he profit from faking a picture like that? Does it help him at all?Jesus Christ, stop being so suspicious. This is Tip.it for God's sake, not RuneHQ. -_-
September 3, 200619 yr 31 March 2004 - Upcoming RuneScape updates Update: I've changed this list very slightly to clarify some of the items on the plan. Also please bear in mind when this list was written it was just a rough plan to give you an idea of the sorts of things that we were thinking of. As it happens we inserted lots of other cool stuff into the schedule that isn't even on this list, which pushed some things back but certainly didn't deprive you of updates! However pretty much everything here is still planned. There is just so many possible things we can do (this list being just a small fraction), and it's hard to decide what to do first! In particular we decided to develop several key map areas that aren't even listed, before the ones here, and did considerably more detailed and complex quests than originally planned. Development plan as of 31-Mar-04 Now that we have finished our big game engine update we can finally get back to producing regular updates to the game. I'm sure you're all wondering whats coming next now the update is finally out, so read on for a summary of some of the things we have planned. The new game engine allows for us to do a much greater variety of updates. We will be able to produce many exciting new features which we simply couldn't do previously. We have also expanded our development team over the last few months so expect the updates to start coming thick and fast. These are just some of the many of the currently planned features. New areas: A viking style area, including a new quest and town. A large 'frozen lands' area including penguins, mammoths, polar bears and more. A pyramid quest in the desert full of traps, treasure and mummys . A barrows of the undead area to explore and find new equipment. Some good training areas designed for rangers. New quests: There will of course be lots of new quests. We will be adding these on a regular basis again, including Part 4 of the ongoing plague city storyline. New items: Enchantable rings. More rare weapons and armour - including weapons with impressive special moves. Armoured boots. More clothing to help give your characters a unique look. Special prayer book items which can be wielded in the shield spot for prayer bonuses. New features & skills Treasure hunt mini-game with a variety of rewards, including some new rare items. Summoning spells - summon skeletons, demons, etc...! A quest journal for you to read and recap what point you are up to in each quest. No more coming back to a quest after a break, and wondering what you are supposed to do next. More random events, to give more variety, and lots of chances to win unexpected rewards. More pets and followers with different properties and abilities. Special organised game events on holidays. Many new monsters such as Orcs, Lizardmen and more. In game versions of our boardgames such as chess and draughts. And are also planning on adding even bigger features, that really take advantage of our new engines abilities, such as: Player owned houses - Each player will be able to have their own unique house. Use the new carpentry skill to make new/rare things for your house. Using the farming skill to grow herbs and plants in the grounds of your house. Build your own private party areas and shop areas, and more! Clan support, to allow you to optionally form your own clans with your friends. Mutiplayer castle arena for massive team based wars! Randomly generated scenarios, where a new adventure is generated for you and your friends each time you go on it. Form an adventuring party and go on your own personal quest. So there's lots to look forward to! We think the next year will be very exciting. . theres the quote
September 3, 200619 yr If you recall the Swan Song quest your character doesn't want to do summoning, calling it evil. Then the necromancer says, "Don't worry, leave the fun parts to me." So I'm pretty sure based on the fact that in a quest your character doesn't want to summon that there won't be summoning. Btw, where are the mammoths that were mentioned in the BTS M'04? I don't remember seeing them anywhere in game... :-s We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.
September 3, 200619 yr PLEASE use proper english. It's hard reading giberish... THEN Jagex releaced a overview... thought that was funny. anyway cool post, looking forward to it. :) Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?Final Fantasy Currently Listening To ~ Hotel California / The Eagles

I don't remember seeing them anywhere in game... :-s I wouldn't base the decision over whether summonign will be put in or not on the choice of a few lines of dialogue someone who wrote the story with came up. Of course summoning is a dark kind of magic and your character at first will be wary, but I'm sure that wouldn't like, get in the way. There were mammoths added into the game by the way, someone found their images in the source code, along with lizardmen and some other guys that didnt come out yet.

September 15, 200619 yr Also this month, we will introduce the Village of Witchaven to the map. This small fishing village, located on the outskirts of Ardougne (Can you say "Arr-Doy-N"?) has lost all its trade since the construction of the nearby fishing platform. As you may be aware, the fishing platform itself has since been taken over by vicious mind-controlling sea slugs. Naturally this rather odd turn of events has attracted the attention of the Temple Knights, a secretive organisation with whom some of you may have worked before. Can you discover the ancient power hidden behind this wall of slugs, or have the fisherman on the platform just drunk too much ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Årum̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
September 16, 200619 yr Seeing as nobody else has posted this, maybe this could give you a clue about how long Jagex has been contemplating the Summoning skill. I saw this on a RS fansite too, I just forget which one.. #-o Oh well, hopefully they dont find summoning too "controversial."
September 24, 200619 yr Author Self bump :!: The GES, the only clan ruled by a Goat. "How did it start? I mean, did one kid just yell out lets have sex!""
September 24, 200619 yr Whether or not it will come in no one knows. I think it is unneccesary because the game is slowly transforming into your regular online game. Getting news graphics and adding summoning, now which game can't you summon? ^^ A very old sig, i think i should make a new one for me =)^^
September 24, 200619 yr :o great post even though i read this a while back. Is the research original or copied? Can't wait till summoning comes out. All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it
September 24, 200619 yr Ok i know everyone supports summoning and i think it would be cool also but, lets be realistic here. If i walk out into the wild and i see a guy my lvl with 99 mage and suddenly a kalphite queen comes up i might try and run away while puddying my pants at the same time. How would the whole summoning thing work, what monsters could u summon, could u use it in the wild? If a summon monster does damage to something would that give u exp? There are waaay to many things u could do with summoning and if jagex decided to make summoning it would probably be completely "happy", like i change that lamp post into 3 hammers and a piece of thread w00t summoning lvl 74 Tank Range !!
September 24, 200619 yr what about making a list of all summoning in runescape... melzar: summoning cabbages, dark imp master: summoning black imps (not anymore), and he claimed to summonin a lesser to train on in the wiz tower. and so on and so on... and yes summoning would be a kewl skill :) but pvp will be overpowered... more like pvp and summoed (sp?) npc vs summoed (sp?) npc, like in the little helper storyline... ^^ click my sig for my lesser ranging guide ^^jwrm22: 4816th > 99 cooking 100% f2p !1172 total! + 140mil in items.i dont play anymore... i think rs is ruined
