TheAncient
One can make Water Orbs on the island off of Catherby beach. Assuming glass orbs cost 500 each, and 3 cosmics (for the spell) costs 450, the cost is roughly 1k. You can sell Water Orbs for 2k, or you can attach them to battlestaves (that you buy from magic guild for 7k). Then you alch for 9.3k, giving the same profit 2k. That's 1k an orb. Assuming it takes you roughly 2 seconds to charge an orb, that's 1.8M an hour, with 100k+ Magic xp for free (and basically free 99 Crafting, if you make your staffs) The only problem is, you need uncerted orbs! (Always a drawback) So you hire runners, making trips from Cath bank to the island shore. But the runners can't trade you, since you're on the island! (Another drawback.) Now. If anyone can figure out a way for runners to get you your orbs (I'm thinking telegrab, but tele-ing each orb is a LOT more work, and I doubt you can keep up 2 seconds an orb), that's pretty much an easy 1M an hour. Malhavok
Yet therein lies the problem. If it can be done in RS2 someones already done it. If you can make alot of money, and it was easy, everyone would do it. If everyone would do the price would go drop. Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year ! Trade_With
Now i'm not sure my idea would work but.. Is there not a grapple point there now? I've not used it, and it may be one way, but if it isn't would it not be quite fast just to grapple across, charge, then grapple back? If anyone knows if it is one way please post. TheAncient
Prices will not fall, because they're already DIRECTLY RELATED to store prices and alch prices. So unless jagex changes those, the 1k is constant. Ever wanted to find street prices of RS items? Malhavok
Prices are related to how item is acquired. If item is easy to get price is cheaper: ex dragon hally compared to other dragon items. If everyone is out to get rare items prices drop: ex whip Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year !
whtgandalf
just a reminder ... when charging orbs you need not only 3 cosmics per orb but 1 elemental(fire, earth, water or air) per orb.. i just go to thormac after my first run per elemental have him make 1 staff a mystic then use it instead of the elemental runes

primadog
why must you go for the water orb? Earth and air orbs are much easier to access, and you get the same alch gp (9.3k) as well as higher exp. Glory ammies really help when staving this way. The problem with your calculation is you did not account for the time it takes for alching, getting raw material, running back-and-forth, and selling whatever finished product. I can tell you for a fact getting the raw material and running time would be the biggest time consumer in battlestaving. PS you do not need any elemental runes to enchant orbs, just wield the correct elemental staff. PPS there's two magic shops with battlestaves: yanille mage tower lvl2 and varrock staff shop All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it
Gugge
What takes time is getting the battle staffs, they spawn very slow in shop, so you need to do a LOT of server jumping, buying 5 at the time. In addition to Varrock staff shop and Yanille Magic guild, the chickenleg house shop on Lunar isle also sell battle staffs. When I do it, I take an air staff, 27 orbs + 81 cosmics. Run to air obelisk, charge orbs which give 1 empty space in inventory when all cosmics are used, so I can tele back to edge with my glory ammy. Boots of lightness of course :) But yeah - it is VERY good crafting exp. Please think before you ask a question. If you ask the right question, its much more likely you get the answer you are looking for :)
transcript80
I gather the battle staves every time I visit Varrock or Yanille. When in Yanille, I always ask Bert for my sand (about 1k now....) buy 5 b staves and go on with my merry business. Every once in a while I make a batch of molten glass, then into orbs. Tele to edge and make earth battle stafs, alch etc etc. The point is that I don't like server hopping. So I buy the staves in every occasion that I can. It really ads up uver time if you do it like that. Con is that you don't get IMMEDIATE xp/money for you bought battle staves. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked... Intriguing
I started useing earth and air orbs to get me to 70 crafting. It was all good until........ I got up to the battlestaff-buying part. seriously, that takes so long. -.- [Especially when you don't like actually paying attention to the RuneScape screen when you're training.] Cool. TheAncient
I will respond to the following quote directly but hopefully answer the other quotes in the process. why must you go for the water orb? Earth and air orbs are much easier to access, and you get the same alch gp (9.3k) as well as higher exp. Glory ammies really help when staving this way. The problem with your calculation is you did not account for the time it takes for alching, getting raw material, running back-and-forth, and selling whatever finished product. PS you do not need any elemental runes to enchant orbs, just wield the correct elemental staff. PPS there's two magic shops with battlestaves: yanille mage tower lvl2 and varrock staff shop You DON'T make the orbs to craft and alch. You SELL them, so that OTHER people who want the "free" crafting and "free alch item" (buy at 9k, alch for 9.3, pays for your nat). The purpose of my method IS TO MAKE MONEY. You SELL the ENCHANTED ORBS and you DO NOT MAKE THE STAFF. And to make money, YOU NEED RUNNERS. The water orbelisk is the ONLY OBELISK visible for your runners to interact with you (going through the actual dungeon is too long per run, and you'd have to pay them a lot more per run, and you wouldn't make money). The only other option is to AIR OBELISK. It MIGHT actually be possible to trade from the wildy to the air obelisk platform... I haven't tried it, but I doubt it's possible. Plus it's a lot more risky (carrying 1m to pay your runners, while defenseless, in the middle of the wild isn't that smart) Hope that clarifys my idea. You buy from MAGE GUILD because varrock sells for 250 more on average. 250 is quite a bit extra. Ever wanted to find street prices of RS items?
