malo2
we discovered the universe afew hundred years ago. ROFL!!! Supreme, typical human arrogance!!! We didn't discover the universe, it was there all aling. People have been staring at it for hundreds of thousands of years! It has taken us that long to get a man into space, not 100 years. invented and discovered are two different things. We discover new species all the time, but that dosent mean they didn't exist before. Lastfm
indy500fan
Kind of unrelated but oh well, it's funny :D . /Fark cliche, may not make sense now that I look at it unless you see it a lot.

SLOWSTORM
all right guys, heres that formula i was talking about: N is the number of planets in our galaxy currently supporting inteligent life in our galaxy N=T*P*E*L*I*C*A (just so you know * means times or multiplied by...) T= total number of stars in our galaxy= about 400,000,000,000 P= fractions of stars with a planetary system= 1/4 E= fractions of planetary systems with a planet that has an ecology able to sustain life= 1/2 L= fraction of planets able to sustain life on which life actually developed= 9/10 I= fraction of planets with intelligent life= 1/10 C= fraction of planets with intelligent life that could communicate outwardly= 1/3 A= ffraction of planets with communicating life which is alive now= 1/100,000,000 any of that make sense to you guys? the book says it equals 15 planets with intelligent life but when i do the math i come up with 40... what do you guys come up with? I think your teacher was just a Pensacola Pelicans fan, and wanted to have an equation that rooted for the home team. LP was right. None of these variables are proved, or currently provable. Maybe this is even an attempt to get your math homework done by the people on the forums :shame: Anyway, something's a little fishy about this, and...D'oh!...the pelican just ate the little fishy. When you are learning, you are growing. If you stop learning, you stop growing. If you stop growing, you die. Train hard, eat fried chicken, and take a one-a-day. (And cook that broccoli 'til it's yella and pour cheese all over it)
