Jagex has released a nifty lil' thing called the parents' guide. Could this have an effect of more players coming to RS? Or could it make some parents to give one some p2p ?

Off-topic: I could help to notice that someone at Jagex likes l33tsp33k :-w

I don't think it would affect much at all even, since no kids would tell their parents to read it / parents wouldn't care either. A game is a game, you don't need a guide to what your child plays if you're a parent, many of them know what's important for their children already, like breaks and sitting upright.

 

 

 

It might sound like "l33tsp33k", but they usually miss an apostrophe or two at some places.

i wish they had this like a year ago my dad used to try and not let me play 'cause he thought it costs money for f2p...lol

i think its a good idea, we have to remeber those parents that really donot use the internet that much ;)

 

 

 

one thing i thought was nice of Jagex, was this for parents.

I wish this was around many yrs ago when my sons were first playing on their own in the game and there was no pmods around

A great parent's guide at that. I had a read through it - of course I'm no parent - but I wanted to get an idea of the message it sends out to parents.

 

 

 

All in all Jagex have done a great job with it. It sums up everything you might need to know about the game your child is playing, in a clear format, answering all the questions you might have asked.

I didn't know if this, 'Parent's Guide.' untill I read this thread.

 

I looked over the guide a bit, it's pretty neat.

 

Hopfully it will explain the game a bit more to parent's.

The graphs are good, but I don't think parents would have the time to see it. Can anyone tell their parents to check it out, and report to us?

I love the educational bit. :P While it may seem "duh" material for some, it helps to enlighten those parents that think all games are bad and teach you bad things (like mine... d'oh).

 

 

 

And I agree with you, Lightning, about the e-mailing for serious incidents or concerns. It would've saved me a lot of trouble when it came to asking people to just nicely back off of my younger siblings. #-o

I read this parents guide it's a good way for parents to understand what runescape is about, the only thing that annoys me that they made the pictures a bit more childish then they are ingame. :wall:

My parents blocked off the runescape website. Do you think you could post the text from the parenting guide so I can view it, maybe pass on the the parents.

I had to write a page on every trade for free players such as fishing, cooking, mining, smithing, combat, etc, to prove what i'd learned from it, before they would even consider making me a member. #-o

 

 

 

Now people can just show parent's the guide and - whup! - membership.
