Kuroi_Ame
Next year I'm starting photography, and I think I want to get serious with it someday..I'm pretty new at this and was wondering what a good starter digital camera would be. (looking for one around 150 USD). ___ kuroi do u wow?Cassiius|Level 70 Night Elf Preist|RunetotemSambora|Level 37 Tauren Shaman|BurningLegion
jak722
It would be hard to find any good high class cameras at that price... Most professional cameras are around 300+ USD at least. :( The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. Kuroi_Ame
Doesn't really have to be a professional-grade camera but a good beginner camera..for beginners. ___ kuroi do u wow?Cassiius|Level 70 Night Elf Preist|RunetotemSambora|Level 37 Tauren Shaman|BurningLegion
Aesahaettr
That's hard. There are quite a lot of cameras out there. I'm not sure exactly what kind you would want, what kind of zoom etc you would like. I have a Kodak V530 and I'm happy with something like that. It can take nice quality pictures, and is nice for just anywhere picture taking. Something like that costs around 180 USD. So I'm sure you'll be able to find a decent camera for your needs within your price range, just got to look around. :)
jak722
Well there are alot of brands out there... Kodak, Canon, Fuji, Samsung, Olympus, Sony, Panasonic, HP, Konica Minolta, Nikon, Panasonic are high grade brands with good quality. Some have models that are cheap enough to. I suggest Kodak, Fuji and Olympus in that order. And try to get at least 5 Megapixels and or a model with a decent zoom function. It really help if you're taking still shots. :-k Edit: I should also say film cameras, as in those other not digital things, are way way WAY cheaper than their digital counterparts. Like when I say cheap, I mean you can find a film camera thats around $100-200 with great quality, and their digital camera equivalent would be almost 3 times more expensive. And these are professional cameras too! Only problem is of course, they're not digital... :( The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. greenslime89
If you're looking for a good beginner SLR - with manual controls and options to change lenses, I would recommend the Nikon D50. It costs ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã320-350 body only, well worth it if you want to be serious - it also as a good auto mode. I have a FujiFilm FinePix S7000 which I would definately recommend as it has a good auto mode for beginners and well placed controls. You can have full manual control if you feel comfortable. The only problem is, you can only have apetures from F2.8-F8.0 - which isn't a wide range, but you can get an adapter ring which allows you to get a neutral density filter which allows you to use shutter speeds that would over expose at F8.0 The S7000 is about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã250-̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã300 and has been discontinued so you might get a good buy if they retailer is wanting rid of their stock. If you want to see any of my photos taken with my S7000 with no editing, none of the photos I have posted recently have been edited so have a look and see if you like the image quality. The S7000 is definately a camera I would recommend. Click here to view my photos Photos!

If you want the cheapest of the cheap that can take professional quality pictures, get a Nikon D70. Run you about $700 or so...

remoteman
I recently bought a Pentax optio w10. It's a great camera, heaps of functions, 6mp, 3x optical zoom and it's waterproof! I've taken it into the surf quite a bit, it works great al around. The macro is great and it takes SD cards, which is a bonus as my dell laptop has a slot for them. Cost me around $500 AU but there is a new model out now, not sure of pricing. Goodluck getting a camera. greenslime89
Pentax have only recently ventured into digital with there *ist range, but they made excellent film cameras for years so they might be a good bet with their reputation.
