Futurama
Ello everyone. :] The time has finally come to decorate and re-equip my new pathetic excuse for a bedroom. Here's a rough diagram of how it'll look once my new basic stuff arrives: heres a pic of my futon thats coming on monday: i wanna go for a kinda cream/red feel as i'm just about sick of blue, hahah. i wanna go for a homely mature look, a bit posh yknow; maybe a little oriental. like a white rug, warm lighting etc. NO tacky posters. so in short, i want pics of; o what to put in my room: rugs, extra lighting, art prints etc. o what colours to paint my room. o how i can just generally make it look good one way or the other My rooms pretty crap at the moment to be honest. It's dark blue all round, posters everywhere, bits of the wallpaper falling off etc. It's too dark and boring, and I want it nice :) thanks for your help in advance. any suggestions are welcome :]
____
Can you ah, post some dimensions of all your stuff, including size of room and size of doors :P
issy2
I would paint the whole room magnolia or cream coloured. Then do dark red patterns on top - spirals, funny shapes, your name, abstracty thingies, zigzags. Or cream/magnolia all round, then a horizontal dark rep stripe about 1 metre tall going all around the room. A white/cream carpet or floorboards with a tasselled deep-red rug spread out over the floor, with red curtains and cream coloured ceiling. Depending on the shape of your room I think that would be fantastic. I recently decorated my room (last week ) I did it stark white, with spirals and abstract shapes in orange, yellow, pink, black, red and dark green on top. It looks great! Oy_the_Great
Wicked, I love decorating rooms! But I think we need to know if your room is on the eastern/southern/.. side of the house, where windows are, what the measuremtns are and all of that stuff. Also, what are you going to put there apart from the stuff that's already there? Bill Hicks[/url]":dhj2kan9]Since the one thing we can say about fundamental matter is, that it is vibrating. And since all vibrations are theoretically sound, then it is not unreasonable to suggest that the universe is music and should be perceived as such. Viktorkrum77
Yay! Interior design! Though I like commercial more! Do what I did, and paint your room like a castle. I painted brinks on the wall, literally took several hours to do. Now I want something more economical. Me doing staff.
issy2
Wicked, I love decorating rooms! But I think we need to know if your room is on the eastern/southern/.. side of the house, where windows are? ooh yeah.My room's cool ( :3> ) because pretty much all of one wall is a window, and it faces south-east, so I get all the sun in the morning! :P In fact that's why I chose it when we originally moved into our current house, plus the fact I had two choices, and the other room was too big and made me feel small... :( Ha my brother wanted that one anyway because he has a double bed and a huge desk which would only fit in there, plus he likes orange which was the colour of the walls 8 years ago and he's 15 now and still hasn't changed them even though I'e redecorated my room about 3 times...oops. [/meaninglessspammystuff] But yeah, I was originally going to do my room dark blue. I then realized it would be too dark, despite the huge windows. Still the amount of light in a room changes the look so much. Even my room manages to look boring at night. Definitely have a soft white carpet and red rug. :
michiel2
Put something in it where you can look hours to. Your choice what. :P At least, I think that.
Futurama
my window is on the left side of that drawing i posted. dimensions about...2 metres long, 1.5 metres across, 9ft high. my wardrobes built in so i havn't included it in that drawing but its on the bottom side of the drawing. im just wondering what to put in there to make it look good :) just been out and bought a cream/mocha reversible duvet cover and my paints. we're planning the main wall and skirting board a deepish red, and a peachy white colour for the rest of the walls and ceiling. red carpet, white rug. white carpet would get wayyy too dirty. :) im not sure on the spirals idea, i want a mature homely look :P
issy2
im not sure on the spirals idea, i want a mature homely look :P Lol, ok. Maybe in that case, a horizontal red stripe going all the way around the bottom, on a cream background?

Peter
I'd put a plant of some sort, maybe a small indoor palm tree, in the upper left corner between the futon and the TV stand. Then get a small spotlight and put them behind the plant in the corner and turn it on in the dark and it's good mood lighting. If plants aren't your thing, maybe go buy one of those Japanese screen things (don't know what they're called) with an opaque cloth in between wood, and stick that in the corner, and put a light behind that, and the light will seep through the cloth and it would look good if I do say so myself. That's all I have for now.
kido14
my window is on the left side of that drawing i posted. dimensions about...2 metres long, 1.5 metres across, 9ft high. What is that in feet? I was thinking meters were a little more than yards and there are 3 feet in a yard, so that would mean your room is ~7 feet long? Is it just me or is that really small? I could barely lay out in that room. Dorm room perhaps? Anyways I can't help you here sorry. I don't like doing this kind of stuff I usually just leave my room how it is Last.fm: http://www.last.fm/user/Aaronm14/MY FAVORITE BAND:http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... d=64310717And the bible is the big book of lies, call me a racist if you must. Futurama
update! :D right now im having to sleep in my brothers bedroom tonight, as all my stuff's in here and he's stopping over his girlfriends. ive set the comp up in here tho! :D well in the end i decided to paint one wall a classy kinda red and the others a peachy white. it looks great so far (after 1 paint fight + 1 crapping myself cos it got on mums carpet outside the room + a whole bunch of wrecked clothes) but ive gotta go over some of it and ive missed one wall as im knackered :) my futon is arriving tomorrow morning and by the time that's set up the rest of the room should be painted and ready to sleep in! :) i still aint sure what to put in it though...i dont know about a plant, i've heard they produce carbon monoxide at night... :x + yeah my room is really small, but im making great use of the space! :) im thinking of buying a flatscreen monitor as my current monitor is like 50cms thick, its terrible :/ but yeah, i still need suggestions of what kind of objects to put in it... :x
