blazer
Is it worth it to make a background layer and foreground layer? And do they have any other use? I'm wondering as I just noticed GraphicsGale has layers. Thanks.

blazer
use paint instead its more cool 8)No way, GraphicsGale makes it way easier to do custom colors. It also has about 20 more undo's and redo's, which makes it much better for experimenting around with your pic's. Ctrl + Z = pure goodness. 8)

blazer
Oooh, I never thought about it being used to make animation.
eev
it sure would save me alot of time if i wanted something changed... is graphicsgale free? lol ;) so yeah I think layers are worth it. Its good, cos if you want to reuse a bg, you can do so without having a big gaping white hole where the foreground used to be

I think I'm gonna use layers in my next sig, see if it comes in handy or is just an extra bother... Edit: The tipit censorship found the exe file and changed the x to a 3. Just go to http://www.humanbalance.net/gale/ and click where the arrows are. (I put the picture in cause I thought it was quite confusing as to where to go). Lowgravity
Why not just do background, then foreground after? Then you don't need to have layers really.. Lowgravity, I want to be just like you. But...I never will be as 1337 as you. :(
blazer
But what if you want to do several versions. Or your not happy with your current version so you decide to redo the foreground. Instead of having an ugly white hole where it all used to be, you've still go your background.
Lowgravity
Yeah but sometimes if you do a really detailed background with the layer and then you slap a guy on the front of it, you will have wasted all the time on the background which you can no longer see :o . Keiphus
Most of my pixel art has about 30+ layers.. of course, I do buildings and whatnot, so mine are usually much bigger than your standard 300x150. However, I don't see how you can do good pixel work without being able to control your layers... unless of course you already had everything drawn out and are some prodigy. You can easily do the foreground first, or not do as much detail where the foreground will go.
Lowgravity
I don't use layers because i'm not used to them, so I shouldn't really be talking about them.. But I can do pixel backgrounds fine without needing to do layers.. Also, do more layers make the file size of the sig bigger? Lowgravity, I want to be just like you. But...I never will be as 1337 as you. :(
Mercifull
Also, do more layers make the file size of the sig bigger? Not when you export at a png, gif or jpeg because it all merges everything into one layer. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape.
