November 3, 200619 yr Merc just explained why watching people like Benny Hinn is good entertainment, so I'd have to disagree with the whole idea of "televangelism is garbage". Not only that, but it's amusing that people like him really become multi-millionaires after preaching about the perks of living an ascetic life. And Benny also holds money meetings, where he gathers up to 500 people who pay hundreds of dollars to get in the hall and chant "lord, grant us wealth" "I have been touched by God and I will be overflown with money". No offense but those people in the audience aren't mentally ill nor desperate, they are plain dumb.

I'm pretty sure he was under the investigation in India because a man died of a heart attack after being "healed" and then pranced about on stage during one of his shows. Just the other day, I saw him on TV asking for $1,000 donations (per person, mind you!) to pay off his new personal jet to "spread the word of God" with. What did you get in return for your gift? Your name written on the inside of it so Benny Hinn himself could "remember you and your gift fondly while spreading the word of God". Bunch. Of. Crap. He's getting too damned greedy and confident. I thought it was rediculous asking for $300 and in return getting a clock, but GEEZ. If I were God, he would be the center attention of Hell and people would get to go down from Heaven and throw razorblades at him - for free.
