flyingchong
Ok, well to start off steel bars are 550 each when you sell them. Coal is about 150 each. Iron is 50 each. So, if you buy say 1k coal for 150k, and 500 iron for 25k, then you just spent 175k. Then, smelt those ores into 500 steel bars. Then go and sell them for 550 each. So 500 steel bars at 550 each is 275. And there you have it, a nice 125k profit. Also it gives you a bit of smithing exp. ~Sig removed~

deathhead154
Tips: Iron is 100ea. Coal is 180ea from autoers. It is best to sell bars at 600ea, in bulks of 1k+. On the flip side, it's been proven that women are probably better mothersYes I have balls, but they melted.

But since when was it 100gp ea for iron?? When i stopped playing it was 25ea and coal was 150ea.... How come its gone up so much?! its almost worthwhile me mining iron again now, as its so quick... pipp_killa
LOL! Not a bad way of making money! but somebody forgot to mention the time it takes to smelt 1k of steel. not very fun to do. And, nobody will sell 1k coal, which took a lifetime to mine, for 150 gp. They sell for 200 each. Iron, about 100 to 150. So, what to do? obviously buy 5 k pure essence for 500k, and make some laws. Sell them all for 500 to 1k each. Thats how you merchant. Getting chicken legs when I say... BOO! How about now... Captainkidd
Ok, this really isn't a guild but i get where your going with this you mean: 1. Buy (x) amount of iron for 100 each 2. Buy (x2) amount of coal for 150 each 3. Smelt into steel bars 4. Sell for 500-600 each Therfore you spend 400 gp per bars and sell for 500-600 gp per bar Now, theres alot on confustion about prices for iron and coal: - Iron:100 gp each *You can some times get iron cheaper but if you want in bulk(1k+) you need to buy for 100 each* - Coal: 150 gp each *Coal don't sell cheaper that this, you can buy for 165 to get a lot or sellers but mostly people will sell for 150 each*
atronic92
Additional tip: While smelting, it is good to know that the closest furnace to a bank is in Port Phasmatys (sp?). All you need to wear is a ghost speak amulet. Also, when you smelt steel, you have 9 iron and 18 coal per inventory. This is only 27 inventoy spots, so if you put a cannonball mould in the 28th spot, you can make cannonballs at the same time. Only thing is, it takes a long time to make cannonballs. Your character goes through a long process of melting the steel, pouring it into the moud, letting it cool, etc. :? But, in the end, canonballs can be sold in quantities of 1k+ for 180 each. And because each steel bar makes 4 cannonballs, each steel bar worth of cannonballs is worth 720 gp! So, by buying 2k coal for 180ea (360k) and 1k iron for 100 each (100k), by spending a lot of time and effort of clicking, you turn 460k in 720k, a 260k profit! Also, you get 55 experience per steel bar, so 55k XP in total. Summary: Turn 2k coal and 1k iron into 4k cannonballs making a profit of 260k gp and 55k smithing XP! "We will certainly not be gaining money or members with this update.
