Any glowstickers/glowstringers or PLUR kids?

Featured Replies

I was wondering if anyone in TIF is a "raver." By raver, I mean someone who freehands with glowsticks or strings glowsticks, or follows the code P_L_U_R.

I recently got into Glowstringing and i've found it really fun. But dang, it does take practice.. alot of practice. I've been doing it about a week or two and i've gotten a few moves down. 2 beat weave, 3 beat weave, butterfly, spirals, a few wraps.. Oh and I think if I don't stop hitting myself in a certain area, i'll be unfertile by the age of 20.

Anyone else share this hobby?

Bleh, once I get off my lazy bum and go to Imageshack, there will be a picture here.

My roomie is...

He has a whole bunch of glowsticks in his drawer and in a can, plus unopened ones too.

There's a guy in my Uni who is infamously known as GLOWSTICK MAN, he even appeared in our university newspaper with him having an interview. He was talking about big 30cm glowsticks he used for special events or something... Yeah he's a bit weird.

Looks... Cool..?
Well when it's dark and seen in person, the glow sticks look crazy because they leave that trail of light.

I do this sometimes (by that I mean RARELY) but with Sparklers \' =D>

The trail of light is from the drugs....

I used to have a link to my school's project to provide fresh water to a Kenyan Village, but the sig police changed the link to say something, which, if followed, leads to an "ahem" adult website. Let me ask you. Which do you think is worse?

Yeah, that would be an expensive hobby. Glowsticks arn't cheap.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe glowsticking is a type of juggling. Like devils sticks, diabolo, poi, staff spinning, plate spinning, etc...

Glowstringing [which is my uhh "form of art"] is very very similar to poi. Just without the fire.

Alot of Glowstringing moves are taken from Poi and such.

Oh, and glowsticking/stringing isn't an expensive hobby. 1$ per at dollar stores, 88cents at Walmarts [sometimes]. But you should simply practice with dead ones.

What if that person noticed you and pulls out nunchucks and chases after you and your friends? :|

I can fire staff spin, and sort of diabolo, if that counts for anthing. I'd think at least fire staff spinning is similar to glowsticking, but much more dangerous.

Then we'd laugh even harder =)

Yeah.. Real nunchucks hurt like hell. I've seen some made out of metal and my dad his a set made of wood. Either way, you wouldn't be laughing.

Psh.. It's not fun if there's no chance of seeing someone start themselves on fire :P I watched that video, and didn't think it was too amazing until I saw him doing both at once. And it probably would look much cooler in person/in the dark.

That was just a tutorial for a move i'm trying to learn..

Real glowstringing = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfJg6T0nakM

It looks about 30 times better in real life, cameras don't catch the glowstick and it's full glory.

doomdeathyz5.gif

Cameras do no justice to glowsticking/stringing

If you don't see it IRL you're missing out

I'm a noob glowsticker(freehand) I can figure8 and semitrace and kindasphere >_>

but I hold the glowsticks differently than it's usually instructed

To hold it like I do:

Make the devil horns with your index and pinky fingers

put a glowstick in between your up fingers and your middle/ring fingers

grip

I don't know how it turns out though, I'll ask one of my friends tomorrow or friday

I guess it looks kind of cool but...

Still, wh ywould you want to do this? I guess evreyone has their own hobbies.. :-s

Why do people breakdance or pop?

Why do people collect things?

To pass the time before death enjoying themselves of course =)

Why do you play video games?

It's all because it's fun and it's a hobby. It's something do, I say it's better to fling glowsticks around and hit yourself in the nuts on accident, then to sit around and get drunk.
