The Vancouver Canucks are now 8-9-1 after their game with the Flames. They had a 2-0 after the 1st and they blow it and fall 3-2. But they are still 3rd overall in the northwest division.

Edmonton is beating them :D

Question 1: Toronto. No other Canadian team has more than 20 points.

Questions 2: Love it. I love both soccer shoot outs, and penalty shots in hockey. Even better if the team I cheer for wins. I think the Bruins only won one shootout last year, and that's the only downside to it. The Bruins suck in shootouts.

PQ1: Ugh, and I hate to say it, and i know Insane is gonna kill me for it, but I think it's gotta be Toronto IF IF IF IF IF IF IF they can stay healthy. Theyre already killing themselves with injuries, but they have a decent offense and a capable goalie, and a great blue line, just have to stay healthy

PQ2: Shootout definatley, I HATED ties, it was stupid. Theyre like kissing your sister...

I don't think any Canadian team will go in as a "favourite" for the cup. That being said, any Canadian team could take a low seed and go deep (as seen in the last few years).

I gotta go with Montreal though.

Thrashers dont play until thursday vs the Stars *weeps*

Toronto doesn't play until Thursday either. Which I would normally be upset about, but seeing as at the end of their last game Tucker, Peca, Kubina, Sundin, and Raycroft were all injured, I'm quite happy for this break.

@Poll question: I'm going to (objectively) say Toronto. Raycroft is playing stellar right now (aside from the groin issue), and their young guns are stepping up in the absence of their star veterans (Sundin, Kubina). Players like Wellwood and Battaglia bring alot of creativity and energy, and players like Ponikarovsky are finally playing to their potential.

I love shootouts. Exciting, and I hated the four column record.

When is Kubina due back? I first heard he'll be back for Boston and now i'm hearing that he won't? :?

Kozari lost control of the Avs-Oil game. In particular, he looked lost in the third period. He looked especially shaky up to and after the rather nasty knee on Smyth. Hope Smyths alright =/ I'm drawing parallels to the Bertuzzi-Moore-Naslund incident which is never good.

On the note of nasty injuries. I really hope they get rid of hitting to the head. I don't see why a small hook or obstruction to a guy gets 2 minutes, but a possible concussion causing hit gets none. I like to think penalties should at least be called concerning player's safety.

That was disgusting. If the knee-on-knee was intentional (I couldn't tell from the replay), he should be out for atleast as long as Smyth - maybe more, seeing as Smyth is tons more valuable than he.

I believe he is healthy - but his wife/partner/girlfriend/thing just had their first child so he went home for that - I'm not sure how long he will be there.

I don't think any player intentionally tries to hurt another player like that. I think the game got out of control, JML got caught up in it all and kneed Smyth. Even as a fan of the Avs, I can't say that was a clean hit. I just don't think he was bragging in the locker room afterwards.

I don't know about "tons" more valuable though. Colorado's top defencemen has been Liles, so it's not like he's a fourth liner. That being said, a suspension is needed.

I'm hearing rumours it's just a Charley Horse for Smyth.

Yes!! Bruins have won two in a row! That was the best shootout performance from the Bruins I've seen. Thomas made incredible saves, especially the one on Ovechkin. And Bergeron had a great goal.

Sens beat Buffalo 4-2 despite bias referreeing :D

(Biron played the puck in the forbidden area twice, no call. Every time Biron touched the puck the play was whistled dead before Sens could get the puck free and at one point Emery was sitting on the puck for ~20 seconds before the ref whistled the play)

Lol, I thought you would sympathize with me given calls against Edmonton this year (Ghost hand pass come to mind?)

Yeah, you wanna know one game where the calls were REALLY bad?

The year was 2004 (I think) and the Flames were playing a memorable 7th game against the Tampa bay Lightening. It was 0-0. The Flames were led by Jarome Iginla. This is the crappy part. He goes in a drives towards the net. he shoots! The puck goes into the net and the goalie pushes it out. I was like wtf. NO goal!! Wth! Right, then they go on to lose the game.

It would've been cool if the Flames and the Oilers would have won the Stanley Cups. Did you know Cam Ward is from the exact same suburb town that I am? . I still think it's time for the cup to revisit Canada. Enough of the Avs, Devils, and Red Wings.

How do you feel now, Insane? Patrice Bergeron just won it for the Bruins in overtime, 2-1. 3 game winning streak! :P

*shrugs*. They don't have Sundin right now. Aubin played stellar but with a five day break prior to the game the Leafs played very rusty. Every deflection seemed to go to the Bruins and every shot the Leafs took seemed to careen off of someone's leg/stick.
