Otherwise you have to be the first to engage in combat, and you might do damage to them (then switch auto retaliate off). Why dont you just level your combat? There are so many pure skillers out there now. Since you can't attack any monsters with just a bow, you wouldn't be able to get unaggressive monsters to attack you. Fear the frog reaper.
