November 17, 200619 yr ok so your starting ranging? this is what i belive the fastest and cheapest way to go. especailly if ur low lvld and are short on cash. to start off get : 1 short bow 1 oak short 1 willow short 1 maple short 100 bronze arrows* 500 iron arrows* 2k steel arrows many many many mith arrows *(bronze and iron arrows are easliy obtainable at S.S. by killing monitors) lvl 1-10 what to use: 100 bronze arrows short bow this is really simple. start with 100 bronze arrows and a short bow. go to champions guild and start killin them chickens. if u cant get in the champions guild then chickens around lumby are fine. i chose chapions guild cause is not crowded. this doesnt take too long (30 mins max). lvl 10-20/30 what to use: oak short ; willow short 500 iron arrows ok now get ur self an oak short and 500 iron arrows and head off to the monestary. the monks are perfect for this lvl because u dont hit high or fast enough to kill them as they keep healing themselfs. ( my first try with this method i gained 2 lvls off the first monk cause all he did was heal : ). now once ur about lvl 12-14 ull start killing them relativly fast. but just keep killing till lvl 20 or 30. once ur lvl 20 though it starts to get very tedious. but once ur lvl 20 u can use ur willow short bow so go get that. u should be still ok on arrows so dont worry. (if anybody knows a good place for lvl 20-30 range training please tell me and ill add it to the guid after ive checked it out) lvl 30-50 what to use: maple short steel arrows now get out ur maple short and steel arrows. its off to the sewers for u. yes im sorry to say that this is the fastest way i know to get from lvl 30 to 50. mossies are good xp but when it gets crowded ur gonna wanna switch worlds. mossies are also good for thier big bones. once ur lvl 40 ranging u can go out and buy full green d hide. then go right back down the sewers and kill those moss giants. lvl 50-70/99 what to use: full green d'hide maple short bow mith arrows this is where it starts getting expensive becuase ur gonna need to buy alot of mith arrows. now get a lobster pot, hatchet and tinder box (optional but convenient), fire staff and nature runes, and 30 gp. yup u probly guess it, ur off to karmaja to kill lessers. im talking about the lessers on karmaja and not on crandor becuase on karmaja there are plenty hiding places. you probably wont need alot of food but if u want u can get some lobbies. i usually just buy lobbies from the store with the money i get as drops from the lessers. and ur gonna want to high alch any rune meds u get.mith chains are also good to high alch. this part of ranging is realy boring and... just boring. but there is not much other chioce unless u wanna go back to mossies or into the wildy and kill greaters. (i only sugest going to greaters if ur ranging is 70+). side notes: armour: the only armour i recomend getting is green d'hide. because with my method u dont need much protection. monks can heal u if u really need it and chickens are chickens. killing mossies for lvls 30-50, just hide behind rocks. most of the time ur not the only peron there so they'll be concentrating on sumbody else anyways. besides non of the armours give great bonus besides the d'hides. arrows: the arrows i mentioned to use will be the cheapest ones to use and still inflict enough damage. the numbers should also be corect for the steels but i not quite sure, so if there is a correction somebody please tell me. general: getting form lvls 1-30 i got in a couple hours with this method on my pure today. ill be continuing with my pure using this method and i will change anything i believe needs to change. Coclusion: thank you for reading. this is my first giude so please consturctive critism. i hope it helps someone on their way to 99 ranging - the f2p way thanks agian! Quest cape since Jan. 30th, '08
November 17, 200619 yr Ok, so that's a pretty good, informative guide, but maybe you could have researched a bit more into it as you seem a bit unsure about some of your training places. Also, this guide would be improved immeasurably if you used correct speech and grammar. It's much nicer on the eye and gives people a better view of you, as well as your guide. Read it through a few times and give it a spell check, that way you can make sure there are no errors.
November 17, 200619 yr Im sorry but you could elaborate more on what to bring, safe spots, drops from monsters worth high alching. Also i doubt level 30 - 60 ranging goes well with mith arrows @ karamja lessers your arrows WILL get looted before you finish off 1 demon
November 17, 200619 yr Author sry i guess that guide wasnt all that great i sorta rushed it and didnt put much thought into it. but ill write another one later when i have more time and ill acually plan it out use pics ect. but thanks a lot for ur advice :D Quest cape since Jan. 30th, '08
November 17, 200619 yr i'm gunna use that guide, but two things, how much do steel arrows cost, and how much do maple shortbows cost?
November 18, 200619 yr If you carry the Oak short with you (good idea), then switch to it immediately on reaching level 5. I'd also favour using the best possible range armour, for the attack bonus, rather than the defence - this means full leather to start, with hard leather body if not keeping a 1 defence pure. At 5 ranged, wield an oak short. At 20 ranged, wield a willow short, equip studded legs and coif, with studded body if you have 20 defence. At 30 ranged, the Maple short At 40, Green dragonhide vambraces and chaps, green body if you do defence and dragon slayer, otherwise stay with the leather, hard leather or studded. In general, use up the lower grade arrows first, at any level, the next grade of arrow MIGHT hit 1 higher, but are not needed against easy targets. PS. If starting a ranger in tutorial island, train to 3 ranged as the arrows are free.
November 19, 200619 yr nice...i never thought about the monks lol Urukai: Kill them all! leave none alive!!! GWAK!
November 19, 200619 yr Nice guide! 6/10. Add some pictures, more details and make it more easy readen, and it will be perfect ( sorry for bad grammar )! Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
November 24, 200619 yr I like that but most of it I knew already... But it's great for begginers  Thank you everybody for rising up against macroing!!!
December 3, 200619 yr suckish guide :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: http://sig.runeweb.net/sig/8/yoda9931.png
December 3, 200619 yr basic guide as of newbies... ur 70 ranged how can u write it's fast to get there 99 range ... do you know what is getting a skill 99 ? and ranged? you gotta kill probably 200,000 lesser demons . fast? idts ~Israel-Power~ 99 STR /\ 94 MAGE /\ 86 RANGE
December 3, 200619 yr try putting in pictures  Retired from runescape. I will be on every now and then though. :)
December 7, 200619 yr 4/10 not very well researched. Have u actually tried this?? I mean ranging lessers at 50 range is not sensible. By the time u kill them there will be like 3 stacks of arrows on the floor. Using mith arrows is also not a good idea. u should put in mossies instead for range training form 50 to 99. There r heaps of safe spots down in the sewers and they r easy to hit with fairly good drops. My friend got to 99 range down there :D
December 7, 200619 yr maybe people with 40 range should go and kill guards i think their faster xp or i may be wrong =/
December 7, 200619 yr This is great if you have a member friend that can make your arrows... My friend is a member and when she gives me the arrows I give her the items that was used to make those arrows.
December 9, 200619 yr basic guide as of newbies... ur 70 ranged how can u write it's fast to get there 99 range ... do you know what is getting a skill 99 ? and ranged? you gotta kill probably 200,000 lesser demons . fast? idts 2oo k Lessers? that is 5 hours man. thats not that long.
December 13, 200619 yr Yea I'd have to agree with all the people saying stuff about lessers at that level. And I agree with whoever it was up there that said use worse arrows. Until you get really high lvl you will get basically the same out of bronzes as steel and even miths, plus they are way cheaper!!! I mean maybe a difference of like 1 and yea that can add up but as for the price I would stick with bronzes especially for training, then you maybe wouldn't have to worry as much about people stealing your arrows on longer kills like lessers.... And for my pure I trained on guards at least until lvl 40 its pretty good exp, and maybe not as good drops as mossies but there is like no competition on top of varrock palace... I would say 6/10, not very well organized, other than that not bad [/url]
December 13, 200619 yr i think that the cheapest way to train range is using bronze arrows :D and ill stick to lessers in the lava maze... cuz every noob runs away when they see a lvl 95+ trainging there! :D ^^ click my sig for my lesser ranging guide ^^jwrm22: 4816th > 99 cooking 100% f2p !1172 total! + 140mil in items.i dont play anymore... i think rs is ruined
December 14, 200619 yr mediocre guide, "fasest and cheapest"... miths arent the cheapest training, ive tried myself lessers are good after lvl 40 with green d full and maple shorty, PICK UP YOUR ARROWS PEOPLE, ive trained on lessers at 40 range with bronze arrows and never got looted because i pick up my arrows about every 30 second even if i havent killed the demon because they cant 1 or 2-hit kill you.. thats y u bring a couple lobby.... and the people in there are usually nice so they wont loot u even if u dont get ur arrows need to include more training spots in this guide...
December 14, 200619 yr My ranger account has 93 ranged and is f2p, when i tried ranging it was the most boring thing ive done in my life, f2p is just hopeless for higher leveld rangers, it would take me atleast 1 week if not more for 1 single level of working a couple of hours a day. Pier pressure? I can just see you being threatened by a wharf or jetty because you're a teleporter. Yes, I can see a large wooden wharf uprooting itself from the shore, walking over to you and slapping you in the back of the head for teleporting.
May 3, 200719 yr good guide, except i dont understand why we would have to use mith arrows at lessers, bronze work just as well and dont cost nearly as much pure:demon_x_king
