Does Jagex delete accounts for being inactive for a certain period of time?

Nope, i've heard of people coming back after quitting years ago. For example, Gregechidna6, the interviewee from this weeks tip.it times article.

They're supposed to. I remember them saying something along the lines of "Accounts that have been inactive for some time will be deleted". I remember this because friends of mine got kinda paranoid about their accounts shortly after the announcement since they were gonna be busy for a while and won't be able to log on.

they did b4, atleast in rsc, cuz i quit after my staker got banned then came back a couple months later and tried to get on my old char n it said it was deleted due to inactivity...i dunno if they still do it tho.

I think they stopped deleting inactive accounts as the number of accounts increased because it took to long and as we know they got to lazy :P Plus introducing new skills takes time.

I think I can say I am happy they don't deep-six inactive accounts. :)

I think they stop banning accounts for inactivited since classic. I have not heard anything about someone beeing banned later by it so most likely they don't do that anymore.

They should have to contact you before deleting accounts.

For classic yes it is true. You have to log on at least once every 6 months

Jagex has the right to delete or modify any account at any time. This is stated in the T&C you agreed with when you created your account. I also remember there being something about 6 months...

i ddin't play for a year at one point cuz of my discovery of starcraft...my account is still alive!

I think they stopped deleting inactive accounts around 2002. I know several noob accounts I made in 2001 have since been deleted.

I remember that update they posted about deleting old accounts, but it was definitely talking about rsc accounts that were inactive for over 6 months
