entangle
I can't say there is any real catergory that 100% defines this type of art. I'm pretty sure it was labelled abstract and it just stuck. Terry
can you please tell me just how long you have been around, seeing this type of abstract art, and which forum you were at that started this type of art? do you not realize the vastness of the internet? how many forums there are? how many digital art oriented forums there are? how old digital art is? how could you POSSIBLY know that your forum was the first to have this type of art? YOU may have seen it first at that forum, but that means nothing. it is hard to tell sometimes what the meaning behind a piece of artwork is. you cannot expect to take a look at someones art, and immediately know what the meaning is, and then if you cant figure it out just dismiss it. it takes some art critics years to figure out art. have you not seen those paintings of a almost completely blank white canvas, with maybe a speckle or two of red paint, that are selling for hundreds of thousands? I still cant figure that out, but that doesnt mean they didnt put any emotion into it. Time spent on a piece does not reflect their emotion/meaning behind the piece. I don't know why these are even considered abstract, they don't really have any properties of real abstract art, it's just a trend that has got way overused in every design community at one point, and can never be considered original. That goes for every style..be it 3d, vector, digital painting, PIXEL ART, etc. and im pretty sure you people here have killed a lot of them. trendwhore was wrecked when newbs got a hold of it and began mass producing the stuff..and also making brushes...and putting it into everything. Guest FireFreek
I want to see your work. I think that you're another boy with a big mouth, big opinions and no skill. You can say how a piece was made but you can't actually make it. Show me something other than 3D RS sigs. You've said 'you have no work online', well go and make something. 'No work online' actually means 'all talk, no skill'. Sorry but you claim that you are an experianced artist but there is nothing to show except your word and your narrow minded opinion. entangle
Sorry, but all of the "pixel art" on this forum is nothing more than alias 2d drawings. Want pixel art? Go to somewhere like http://www.mrwong.de Now thats REAL pixel art right there. Forums eh? Ever heard of Endeffect, Perfect Burn, Theroot42, DBM, Yayhooray? Anyone who is known in the design community posted at atleast one of those. 'No work online' actually means 'all talk, no skill'. No work online means I have no work online, not I can't do this, or that. Pretty simple to understand, and also, my clients generally dislike work they have paid for being posted online. Terry
Forums eh? Ever heard of Endeffect, Perfect Burn, Theroot42, DBM, Yayhooray? Anyone who is known in the design community posted at atleast one of those. yes, yes, no, yes, yes. which does not mean that I have posted in all of them. anyone who is known in the design community posted atleast one of those??? wtf. seriously dude, how long have you been around, you didnt answer that question. and according to you, you are known in the design community which is massive, if you have posted at one of those five forums? wow. seems new to me. I like how you classify yourself as some star in the design community. you can post at a forum! *gasp* I know tons of top artists, none of which have ever heard of you, and also does not mean anything. you can be the best digital artist in the world, and not post on forums. or even interact on the internet. you could just be someone that works in an office building all day pumping out scene after scene for movies/games. but I find it hard to believe that someone who claims to be in 'the design community' has no work online. entangle
Now then, where did I say I was known? I don't seem to remember saying anything along those lines. I do however saying that quite a few people who ARE known in the community have posted at atleast one of those. That's pretty amazing that you've heard of all of those forums except the root. Astonishing. I don't have any work online anymore, because I can't be bothered to run a website, or deal with stupid rippers all the time, I also havent created any personal work in quite awhile, or anything for "fun", some of us actually have to go to work during the week. Oh, and I took the liberty of uploading some old/unfinished and discarded work for you to look at. Have fun, and please, the topic is also way past it's sell by date, let it go. http://www.johnalder.com/tempwork/ Quit RS 2005 | RSN: JohnalderBack as of 5/7/2008!Dragon Drops: x1 Med, x5 Legs, x4 Skirts, x25 Boots, x1 Visage | x7 Abyssal Whips

Quer_Skulll
That is your personal opinion. Abstract art was not founded on the tip.it/runescape forums. It doesn't get 'old' or 'new'. It's a type of art that has always been around and will always be around. Oh, but it does get old, it's already old, you may have only just discovered it, or how to do it, but believe me when I say it's time for something new. Abstract art was founded before anyone on this forum was even born, I have no idea where you thought of that conclusion. If you really must know, I used to post on THE forums that started this type of art, I have been around along time and have seen art styles develope into good things, into bad things, its OVERUSED things, so don't come in here telling me I know nothing just because you can't handle the truth. abstract art was founded in the time of caveme when they just drawn regulair images on the wall that didnt look like a thing it was abstract, yet cool IMO the dutch had given a new positive development on this {as you might know allot of the famous historicall painters where either dutch or french} Entangle you havent been here for as long as you really think.. you just post to much? what gives you the right to flame here anyway? entangle
Yeah, you're right I havent been here long, but that doesnt mean anything. I'm not flaming anyone, and if I were, I'd have the same right as everyone else. lemad11
abstract being old dones't mean its bad necessarily .. abstract art itself is old...but that doesn't make it bad or look like crud. . .
Ryan
abstract being old dones't mean its bad necessarily .. abstract art itself is old...but that doesn't make it bad or look like crud. . . You people are confusing the general genre of abstract art and the abstract art done with a 3d render and photoshop brushing. Entangle is stating the later is old. So stop with the "abstract since cavement."
Terry
I dont know why that is astonishing.. lets see, I own a graphic design art group, I work at a graphic design/web design firm, I intern at another firm, and also help out with some other design groups as well. and I have been around for about 5 years, started when I was 12. I used to be heavily into anime sigs, then moved on to abstract art/wallpapers, then to vector, and now to digital painting, along with flash and motion (after effects) on the side. I never really got into 3d, but will be taking a photography course next year. your work is nice, I like your vectors, and renders, but some of your other stuff could use work. but nice work I like it. glad to see people making art other than sigs. and yes, there are A LOT of good dutch artists, and european artists. one of the most famous probably being Jens Karlsson [link]
entangle
*shudders at the thought of seeing chapter3 again* Even though I hate the style, that is one guy who can pull it off. I'd say 70% of people get their inspiration from him, or just plain trying to copy. About my work, yeah, allot of it there could do with some more to it, as I said, its mainly all old and unfinished, that's why some of the renders have under sampled grain. Nice lowdown of your graphic design career. I also started when I was 12, making sigs on wrestling forums (yes, that'd be 1996), moved on to bigger and better things after discovering sigs were lame. Did GCSE Art, A Level Art, I've worked at a few design companies, worked for a few big UK companys and quite a few small buisnesses, and pretty much done every type of art over the years, little photography but then again, it's not what I really want todo be doing. As for sigs, I havent created or cared for them in years until I found this forum, I still don't like them, but I am prepared to make them for a little RS cash (I think there are allot of us who plan to own zezima in the upcoming years, at whatever rate) I've run my own forum for this stretch too, and slowly, I've got everyone there off sig use, seriously, you get a much nicer looking forum, yep, I'm not a fan. Anyway, you seem to be an alright guy when your not trying to have a go at me. I guess anyone can come onto a forum and talk trash, and maybe it is rare for someone to actually know something.
