I thought his special required attacks to hit. I always protect from mage when I fight him and never noticed my strength dropping.

Hmm, I range him, and sometimes my strength is decreased... now that i think about it, he might have hit me as i turn prayer off, because I don't wait for them to do the death bow, and sometimes they are just red barred

I do barrows with veracs, and I was thinking about switching my order to do ahrim early with prayer (he wastes a ton of my food in black hides with crystal bow), but I don't want to if he'll kill my strength.

The answer is no.

 

 

 

Protect from mage only stops he damage and not the reduction on stats.

 

 

 

Ive done alot of barrows runs and ahrim always drops my combat stats a little.

All protection prayers only prevent damage (and the length of time you are entangled/frozen) caused by a mage spell, but it does not protect you from their EFFECTS, so set effects, curse spells and such will ALL work on you even when you have protect from mage on.

He does lower your strength through prayer.
