Today I went from extremely happy because my band rotation consisted of me, my 55 year old teacher, and 4 other kids watching youtube videos, and then it went bad. In health class, my teacher asked the class 20 true-or-false questions about nutrition;apparently to test our prior knowledge before learning about it. You would think that makes sense, but directly after going through the 20 questions, (which I couldn't hear half the answers to because my class is part idiot and part genius, so they talk in excess) she gives us a quiz on the same 20 questions which nobody had any idea about before the period started. At this point I am slightly annoyed, but I figure if I use common sense, it should be easy. (My mom has taught me a lot because she is a dietition, so...yeah) There were questions like "are oranges a source of vitamin C?" Easily stuff more the most part...but one question(actually several, but I'll focus on this one) irked me in particular. It was: "True or False, protein is converted into fat if you eat too much."

As far as I know, and have researched, proteins' and fats' chemical structures are so different, that your body relyies on carbohydrates because they are easier for fat storage. Also, your body uses protein in building and muscles so it isn't a preferable source of energy when carbohydrates are available. I searched several sites and all said that protein turning into fat is a rare occurrence.

Anyway, I got an 85 on the pop-quiz-which-we-never-got-any-notes-on. I asked her where she got her information from, she said it was the packet she was holding. I asked if she made the packet herself, and if not, where did she get it from? She then basically stammered and relied on my noisy class to get her out of the situation.

I don't care if I'm being the biggest science nerd/[wagon] on earth correcting the teacher, I'm not taking this kind of stuff. I don't even care if I get a low average, because 40% of my grade is behavior. (seriously, its a 100 if she likes you, 70's or 80's if she doesn't, even if you do all the work) So far since the semester started we've been on good terms, but when she gives false information, and then stands by what the paper says, not admitting it is probably a mistake, I need to do something.

Edit: Did a ton of grammar fixes on my anecdote, and I have a news update. I asked my mom what she thought about the whole thing. Here's a short snip-it of what happened

Me: Mom, do you know if proteins turn into fats?

Mom:...what? What are you talking about?

Me: today in health class...

Mom: I have never heard of that happening in my life. Did she really say that was right?

Me:Yeah. So you agree in my decision of putting the correct answer despite it being graded as wrong?

Mom: Yes, but you should talk to your teacher

Me: I tried, and even asked where she got her information from, etc. (basically I retold her my story so I won't tell it again to you guys)

Mom:... :wall:

I put the :wall: in there because she realized every health teacher in my high school is either lazy, incorrect, or just doesn't teach. This is not a joke. My sister even agreed her health teacher (different from mine) just let the class watch movies.

Tomorrow I am going to ask my Bio teacher to see what she says, and then I'll talk to my health teacher about possibly changing my grade. Remember, it's not the number itself, but the fact that I was unjustly given that grade.

Meh, the last year I had the most stupid teacher you could imagine. She was a math teacher, and I don't know why ( wasn't paying much attention) she wrote on the blackboard " 3x8=27" So I tell her she was wrong, she says "no! 3 times 8 is 27!". We all tell her she is wrong. She stares at us. We stare at her. 5 seconds pass and the room was silent and all she says is "Do we all agree?"
