December 10, 200619 yr the best place for mining gold is the crafting guild, southwest of falador. it has 7 gold. you need 40 crafting and a brown apron to get in. you buy a brown apron from the clothing store in varrock. if you dont have 40 crafting, the only other places are rimmington, dwarven mines and the one north of al kharid. all of them have 2 each.

Rimmington mine - 2 (competition is either extreme or none, powermine iron while you wait) Al-Kharid mine - 2 (often busy as hell) Karamja volcano - 4 (since it's a boat ride away from a bank and has no other mining opportunities, it's not particularly popular). Also guarded by skeletons. Very slow XP, but probably the best place if you really need gold and cannot enter the guild yet. Also remember though, that gold without gems is inferior crafting XP to silver, and probably time-inferior to leather or clay bowls.

December 10, 200619 yr If you want gold. I suggest you get 40 crafting first. It is not that hard, and the crafting guild has sliver to. The next best place is either karmja volcano or crandor island. neither them are that good, so just get the crafting level.
December 10, 200619 yr The guild is definitely the best - use that when you can. And everytime I go to Karamja, it's never crowded at the gold mine - much different than Al-Kharid/Rimmington/Falador. Sig credit goes to ThruItAll. :D
December 10, 200619 yr edgeville mine is the best place to mine silver in f2p if you cant get into the guild imo...you have 3 rocks where hardly anyone is ever mining and you can powermine the iron while ur waiting for the silver to respawn and get some nice mining xp.. holy symbols/tiaras=quickest way to 40 crafting

December 10, 200619 yr Go with another method of leveling until you get to 40 Crafting. The Crafting Guild is the only decent Gold mine in F2P. Expecting a good life because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to charge because you're a vegetarian.
December 10, 200619 yr also, DON'T smelt your own gold. You can trade two bars for one ore with several p2p smithers.
