christmas update: do free players miss out?

well, to tell the truth, quite recently ive been getting completely bored of rs... horrible isnt it?

anyway, i stopped my members because i wasnt using it enough, but i am very anal about getting every item available on rs. if i missed another holiday item i would be seriously annoyed.

anyway, i knew that jagex would never make it that people had to be members to get every item... and them the christmas update came out

members get a seasonal tree... when i first saw it, i was outraged! even if a person played their brain out for 5 years, got all holiday items but could never become member, now they will never have every item in the game if they dont become member.

my question is: is what i am saying wrong? is this member's tree a permanent thing or is it only going to be apparent for the christmas season? if it is permenent, can i get the tree if i finish the chrissyquest on free, then become member's again later on in the year?

does anyone know? thx!

This is already in discussion in the following thread:

yea, non-members miss out:

on a lot of skills

on cool outfits

on a tree that you couldn't use anywhere, cause where would you put it?

:boohoo:

we also miss out on paying. \'

And worse, most non-members can't pay the $5 due to their life situation, so getting harassed by members about it really ticks us the #$&% off... :x

So when I see a remark like this:

What, you want the tree that would be useless in F2P? Be happy with your hat....

I want to tell them:

cowmasta13, QUIT harassing us F2P'ers. If us F2P'ers get to 'go to'/'return to' members, we want to know we're gonna get what we worked for along with what we're paying. In this case, part of being a member, if we completed the holiday event, means we're supposed to get that prized "Wintumber Tree"... 'Nuff said. =;

yes, this is exactly my point, i have always been members, im just free at the moment, and i want to know that when i come back to members i will be able to get the tree to go with my house, and i know that there is not enough bank space, but except for the bunny ears, it is possible for me to get any item in the game, i just wan to know that if i ever want an item it is possible for me to get it, and this tree is one of those things... i dont want to miss out on it just because i ran out of rs funds... or... got bored, you know, either way...

yea i see where your coming from. But i disagree (now before you flam me i quit members because i didn't like it and became a f2p skiller) p2p PAY for their gaming experience. So why should they get the same stuff a player that doesn't pay ANYTHING. No thats right, they deserve more.

I'm sry if i make this into a f2p vs p2p flamming thread, as this is not intended but is bound to happen.

If any person has done an event, and then they go P2P, they should still have the ability to have access to all the rewards from the event(s) they've completed, inclusive of what a P2P'er gets for being P2P, because of the fact that they've gone P2P and they completed that event.

Put simply, if you're not catching my drift: A P2P'er may have done the event as an F2P, but now they're P2P, AND THEY HAVE PAID FOR THE BENEFITS OF BEING P2P. Therefore, they have done what it takes to earn all the P2P-only rewards for the event(s) in question.

BTW, you may notice, I'm F2P, BUT I am supporting P2P's on this, both ex-P2P and current, especially those with intent to return. There is not any reason that going F2P temporarily should cut a P2P off from having access to all the stuff from any event(s) they completed.

Sorry, micbar, but your logic is flawed. I just hope Jagex doesn't turn out to be as flawed as you. :?

Locked~The author's question has already been answered as far as I can tell. But now the thread is carrying over to more general discussions regarding F2P and the holiday items. If you wish to continue the discussion, there is a newly created thread on the General board regarding the same issue:

http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=4042173

If the author of the thread feels that his/her question has not been answered, feel free to PM me and I'll unlock this for you :) I just feel like there is more discussion rather than question-answering at the moment, and that would belong in the General board.

Thanks you and happy holidays!

EDIT: Going to let one more person answer your questions before relocking it :P

Just to actually give you a definant answer before it's locked, because it seems as though you haven't gotten one yet:

Regarding F2P/P2P, it looks like you can complete the event on F2P anytime. But to get the tree you must talk to Shanty Claws on a P2P server before the event is over, because Diango doesn't have a tree for you to recover until after you get it from Shanty Claws. So if you don't get P2P before this holiday is over ... no tree for you :(.

So yes, unfortunately if you're not a member during the event, you'll never be able to get the tree afterwards. :(
