I am really depressed.

Well, let me give you a few first impressions from what I see. ( This is coming from a popular kid at my school, so I'd suggest take it. [ At my school it is very hard to become popular.])

DO NOT TAKE ANY OF WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY OFFENSIVELY.

I presume you are considered weird, due to the fact of your apperance / attitude.

You're probably a "nerd", which makes it hard to get friends.

Your wardrobe is probably outdated, and "un-trendy".

My suggestions:

DO NOT MENTION RUNESCAPE AT SCHOOL, EVER!

Make a few friends, and slowly earn your popularity.

Have a cool attitude, if a teacher yells at you, so be it. Don't show any emotion, and then laugh with a friend. ( Once the teacher can't see you that is :P)

Look at some of the more popular kids and their wardrobe. Get some clothes like them. And if you wear glasses, get contacts! Contacts > Glasses, big time.

Do not do nerdy things, and try to hang out with the girlz. You get a rep with the girlz, you get a rep with everyone.

FLIRT! FLIRT, FLIRT, FLIRT. Flirting, and flattering a girl makes them feel special and wonderful. Trust me, I know. :D

Correct me on anything I said wrong there, about you I mean.

Take my suggestions, you'll thank me later!

ahahaha you don't know how much of an [wagon] you came off as.

not only does everyone know now that you're the very epitome of those you're criticizing, but you made a fool out of yourself in front of everyone here

are you a 6th grader or something?

for the record, you come off 10x more insecure than the person who posted. who the hell actually takes the time to try and elevate themselves on a rs forum?

your wardrobe is no good, and you have no friends.

good riddance

and never change who you are- youll just end up seeming fake and thats not cool. people dont tend to like people who are trying to be something theyre not because no matter how hard you try, youll always be better at being yourself than at being something else.

Here here.

Conformity is a cancer on society.

It's worse than any kind of a cancer. It's a malignant tumor of the brain! And it's spreading! Get the sedatives!

We all need a bit of conformity in our lives. Just don't overdose on it.

How so?

Eat rocks or conform to food!

But seriously, santor, rushrock, you guys are discriminating against popular people. One of my friends is on her basketball team, she's great looking and has tons of friends. She's very, very popular. But is she shallow? Hell no! She always helps others and is nice as can be! Being popular for her is just a coincidence with her personality.

Not exactly what I said...I'm not talking about people who have lots of friends, I'm talking about that specific group (usually large) of people in [mostly everyone's] schools that seek social status and acceptance. They are zombies of the media and depend on discrimination of others to satisfy them. They don't accept those who are different, and they are, indeed, shallow. Obviously, your friend isn't in this group we're talking about.

On certain occasions, not having conformity can lead to embarrassment etc. around your friends and fellow peers. Uniqueness is good, but you just don't want to come off as "strange". For instance you don't want to wear a Cardboard box to school (yes that was a joke from the first page for those who didn't pick up on it  ).

I could give many more examples but I think you can get the point from what I said. And as I said previously, just don't overdose on it. Stay Unique , but coming off strange is not the way to getting friends and forming relationships.

When you say "coming off strange", are you talking about your own style? I'm a guy, I wear black pretty much all over, and I'm thinking of painting my nails black again, too. I have plenty of good friends who like me for who I am. Should I change what I wear in hopes that a "popular" blonde wearing Hollister will notice me? That, my friend, is surrendering individuality.

eM0 G07H !!11!!!!!!1! ....jks :P

If you choose to be unique in that way then go with it. Most would find that strange though in today's society. Right? And thus that's not going to get a kid suffering from depression some friends, unless he spends most of his day at a Death Metal Concert.

My point here is this: Be yourself. Never surrender individuality. For anything. Period.

The death metal concert example sounded like a stereotype...<.<

Well as of yet I haven't seen any people wearing black clothing with black nail polish on, at any concerts other than Death/Heavy/Metal Concerts. :P

I'm having a hard time understanding how painting your nails black and wearing black all over is individuality. You're not any different than the "hot blonde wearing Hollister". You just have a different style. You're conforming to your friends, and she is conforming to hers. Quit thinking that you're so different, please.

Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.

Hey. I'm 13. Since I was 10, I have been depressed about life. What is wrong with me? :-k

Do you listen to My Chemical Romance?

If you do, don't.

If you don't, uhh.. be happy?

My chemical romance sucks. And no, I'm not a nerd. I do however look better with glasses than without. I wear alot of black. Not nerdy clothes. And I'm homeschooled; the school system around here is horrible. I went into boy scouts. After listening to some of them, I am NOT a nerd. I am the most non-nerdy person in comparison. And no, I have literally had no friends since I was 9. I am in the 9th grade, going in the 10nth. I skipped 2nd. I'm 5'6, weigh 115 pounds. Am I underweight? I do do other things other than the computer. I go on walks and think about stuff. I am artistic. I wouldn't be emo if you paid me.

And my depression DID start at 10. But it is not suicidal serious. I hope it doesn't get that way.

That is basically my life in a sentence. I tried to answer some of the stuff you guys were saying. But yea. I have made 2 friends at boy scouts recently. The only two that don't act like they have brain damage.

Life is as EXTREME as you WANT TO MAKE IT!

Before i was trying to help you out, now it appears you dont even want to help yourself... Are we wasting our time?

Try and act positive atleast... Or just pretend what were saying may help...

dating at age 10-15 is pointless. asnswer me this. when you went out with someone at a young age was it because of actual love? or just to make you look cool? cause im seriously laughing at the fact people are sad that someone walking on the play ground with thier cousin. stay away from dating till you can drive IMO

First one... just to let you know Riku, contacts are really easy to use. If you do it right you'll never poke your eyes.

Although irulepoker I think you're wrong. Flirting with girls (especially when you're considered unpopular) is not the way to popularity... believe me.

So I'd say just try and socialise a bit more at school, be confident about yourself and try to enjoy life.

Popularity does not necessarily = conformity. They aren't discriminating against popular people in any way, only against conformists. Conformists are those who try to be popular just for the sake of being popular and fitting in with others to 'be cool'. There is nothing wrong with being popular as long as it is truly who you are.

i never said the popular one's are shallow i am saying the ones who run after them trying to be their friends are shallow and if they get ''exepted in the group'' they become ''cool'' and those are the shallow one's i never said that evryone who look good and has many friends (though like i said some (probaly more then you think) are only their friends for the rep but the ''cool people'' themself arent shallow (most of the time))
