The Runar
Welcome to my mining guide! This guide is for F2P players. 1 - Starting off 2 - Ores and pickaxes 3 - Mining sites 4 - F.A.Q. 5 - Other stuff 1 - Starting off To start mining, you need a pickaxe. You can get bronze pickaxe from Mining Tutor at Lumbridge Swamp east mine. To mine ore, simply click the rock you want to mine and wait some seconds. 2 - Ores and pickaxes You can mine lots of different ores. Here's list of all ores: MINING LVL - ORE NAME - XP 1 - Tin - 17,5 1 - Copper - 17,5 1 - Clay - 5 1 - Rune Essence (after Rune Mysteries) - 5 10 - Blurite (when doing Knight's Sword) - 17,5 15 - Iron - 35 20 - Silver - 40 30 - Coal - 50 40 - Gold - 65 55 - Mithril - 80 70 - Adamant - 95 85 - Runite - 125 And pickaxes: MINING LVL - PICKAXE 1 - Bronze 1 - Iron 6 - Steel 21 - Mithril 31 - Adamant 41 - Rune 3 - Mining Sites You can find many mining sites in RuneScape World. Here's info for most of them: Lumbridge Swamp East Mine Ores: Tin - yellow Copper - red This is low-leveled players mining site and probably the best to mine tin and copper. Here's route to bank: Bank is at highest floor of Lumbridge castle. Varrock west mine Ores: Clay Iron - yellow Silver This is pretty good mine for iron powermining. Nearest bank is Varrock west bank: Lumbridge Swamp West Mine Ores: Coal - red Mithril - blue Adamant - green This is very good mine for Mithril and Adamant mining. It's often used by lvl 60-70 miners. Nearest bank is in Draynor: Karamja Volcano Gold Map Ores: Gold - yellow This is little mine with 4 Gold ores. It's not recommended for low-leveled players, because there is about lvl-20 Skeletons. There is no bank nearby, I think nearest is Falador East Bank: Dwarven mines: Ores: Clay Tin Copper Iron Coal Gold Mithril Adamant Very good mining spot. Nearly all ores in RuneScape. If you have 60 Mining, you can enter Mining Guild. Mining Guild contains 37 Coal and 5 Mithril. Dwarven mines contains not only ores, but pickaxe shop, ore shop and Scorpions. Not recommended for low-level miners because of the scorpions. Nearest bank is in Falador: Chasm mine: Ores: Tin Copper Iron Silver Coal Gold Mithril Adamant Pretty good mining spot, but no bank nearby. Also contains lots of lvl-14 Scorpions. Nearest bank is in Al-Kharid: Runite Mine: Ores: Runite - cyan Only place in F2P where you can mine Runite. Be careful of lvl-33 spiders and PKers! There is no bank close to it. Nearest is in Edgeville. Route to Edgeville bank: There are some other mines too, like Varrock East Mine and Rimmington, but they are rarely used. 4 - F.A.Q. Nothing right now, ask if you want. 5 - Other Stuff When you want to select a world, use these hints. Red Square - DON'T PRESS THIS BUTTON. This is worst thing you can do. Blue Square - PRESS THIS BUTTON. Then world are ordered by players on it. Select the first world. Many players go to less crowded worlds, so you can see there's nearly no players at mining sites! Because there is lots of players anyway, ore respawn time is lowest possible. EDIT: This square marks the 'up' arrow on 'players'... Green Square - An example for good world. MERCHANTING Where to sell ores? What is good price? Best place is Falador east bank: Prices are: ORE - PRICE Tin - 5 gp each Copper - 5 gp each Clay - no one buys or sells Rune Essence - 30 gp each Blurite - not tradable Iron - 50-100 gp each Silver - don't know Coal - 150-200 gp each Gold - don't know Mithril - 500-1,000 gp each Adamant - 2,000-3,000 gp each Runite - 10,000 gp each -TRAINING- What to mine at different lvls? Lvl 1: Do Doric's quest - it gives enough xp to lvl 11-12 and it's very easy. You can obtain iron ore from other players or Dwarven Mines ore shop. Lvls 1-15: Mine Tin and Copper. Best places are Lumbridge Swamp east mine and Varrock east mine. Lvl 6: Buy Steel Pickaxe from Nurmof in Dwarven mines if you can afford it. Lvls 15-60: Now it's time for some iron. Mine around 7K Iron ores and you have lvl 60 mining. Lvl 21: Buy mithril pickaxe from Nurmof, price is 1,300 gp. Lvl 31: Buy adamant pickaxe from Nurmof, price is 3,200 gp. Lvl 41: Buy rune pickaxe from Nurmof, price is 32,000 gp. Lvls 60-99: Mine Coal in the mining guild. You need around 100,000-150,000 coal to lvl 99 mining. Lvl 99: If you're member, buy Mining skillcape from one of the dwarves around the mining guild's entrance. Huh, it was lots of writing! I hope this guide helps! -Tiigon The Runar's (OSRS) DIY blog - most viewed Blogscape blog ever! Contract? /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
mucco
Nice guide, it lacks a couple things to be considered good for a f2p mining guide though. You may want to add the southeast Varrock mine, as there are 4 iron rocks there (I believe) and the walk isn't much longer than west mine. A good place for gold and silver is the crafting guild, although bank is a bit far away, it's probably faster gold than karamja volcano. Also, for high levels, the hobgoblin mine (halfway from edgeville to rune rocks) can provide a lot of good ores, including a furnace nearby, so you can bank directly addy or mith ores. The advice about worlds is good, but I had to spend a couple minutes trying to find all the squares! Maybe it's just me :XD: but some brighter colours could do. Poddy295
Decent written guide, The closest bank to the gold rocks is actually draylor village, and the world that jagex suggests, is the one that will lag the least for you.

Hereticus
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Varrock East mine is closer to a bank for mining tin and copper than that Lumbridge swamp mine.

Yeah the respawn rate goes up to compensate for the larger amount of players. Pandaman115
*Assumes this is yoru first guide* This is a good guide for a first guide. There is a tad bit missing, and a tad bit misorganization. Still fairly well written. [Admin Edit: No naming names in a negative light]
wakka102
Your price on rune ore is way off. It goes for 11k easily, I had a permanent buyer for 11.5k, if your lucky you can sell for 12k per.
