I know a lot of runescape players pay for full membership, but all they do is use the game forums! The truth is, the forums in runescape are (probably) one of the best in the world, because of the fast paced style it has.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After I was banned from the forums, I quit membership. All I really wanted was the forums anyway. So, naturally, I'm F2P right at the moment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was thinking some like this: Jagex has two levels of "membership:"

 

 

 

"Full Members" (All members features)

 

 

 

"Forum Members" (Can post on the official forums, no other benefits)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Full members costs 5$ a month I understand, so Forum Members would pay 2.50$ for rights to the forums. It could even be a full 3$, but I think two fifty is fair.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What does everyone think? I was going to post this idea on the forums, but I can't of course.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The color of your post could be different. Full members would have the old school Green color in the background of their posts, and Forum Members would have a simple black background, like in the picture.

 

 

 

I know green is already taken by P-Mods, but that can be changed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Black background = Forum Member

 

 

 

Green background = Full Member

 

 

 

Red background = P-Mod

 

 

 

Gold background = J-Mod

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Note that if the background thing is effective, then there would be no need to have the Membership status under you name like in the picture.

It's a nice idea, though if your willing to pay $3, you might as well pay 2$ more, and get forum acces AND a lot more.

I know it seems like paying 2$ more is very little, but some families are...you know..worse off then others, so 2.50$ might be a great deal for them.

Ive never really used them for anything but trading, whats better on those forums than the Tip.It forums? Tip.It allows images and sigs, more free talk and is generally easier to navigate around, I don't really see where your argument is coming from.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But as regards your idea, if there are people who would prefer to just get forums access, then yes I think that would be a great idea. I think you need to do some research though, rather than just saying 'I know lots of people', you need to have an idea in figures of how many people would be interested in enrolling onto such a type of membership before you send this to Jagex.

My next step is to see if i can get this onto a Tip.it Poll and see how meany people would vote for this.

Them forums are useful for only one reason...Selling and Buying...everything else is too fast paced...your topic will not be seen unless you keep bumping it, which sometimes topics are better left unseen, but that isnt beleived by the poster....in other words, a lot of time their are dumb topics that are bumped a bunch.

Nick, I've been posting on the runescape forums since 2004. I like the forums for a range of reasons. But thank you for your *ahem* concern about the 1337-speakers 8-) :D
