Try not to turn this into a flame fest otherwise it will get closed...

I'm 17 so my body is mostly changed my shoulders just need to widen abit, and about doing sit ups while holding a weight, my weights suck so it wasn't very effective compared to the sits up i doing at the moment...

I do those sit ups 10 times each which is 30 sit ups and i can feel it working, i try to do 4-5 sets a day at the moment, which are usually spread out...

Also i'm trying to find some exercises that i can do with my weights for upper body...

We'll see how long this lasts, im missing the gym already and its closed for like another 35 days :(

Do you have weight plates? Or dumb bells? With weight plates you could do weighted push-ups with your legs on a high surface so your body is parallel to the ground. This trains your triceps, and mainly chest.

With Dumb bells, you have a lot more options, you could do Shoulder presses, Bicep curls etc.

All the best with your weight lifting :P It must suck to not have the gym open..

This is the routine I'm starting: Each day, except for one off-day a week or days when I really can't, I do one hundred each of:

-Jumping jacks

-Crunches/situps

-Lengths around my yard

-Weight lifts (10lbs)

I also ride my bike every now and then, and have P.E. in school every other day, where we often run a lot and do some basic warmups.

At 13 years old, is this good?

My exercise over a regular week (with competitions and other irregular things mucking this up pretty much everyother week) would look something like this:

4 X Gym Session which means:

20mins at 12 km/h, 1 or 2 mins at 17km/hour, generally at the end of my running (to build up stamina and to make sure that however hard I push myself, I have energy for a final burst).

4 sets of 10 Bicep Curls, currently lifting 46 kg.

4 sets of 10 chess press's currently at 40kg

4 sets of 10 pectoral flies currently at 47kg

4 sets of 10 assisted pull ups, about 50kg actually being lifted (although in reality the assistance isn't very effective, so more like 60kg)

4 sets of 10 shoulder press if I have time left over at 25kg

4 sets of 10 lay-pulls downs, again if i have time left over, at 36kg

The aim of my sessions is to build up strong muscles that will be able to perform at a high level for a medium ammount of time (ie a boxing match). The running builds stamina and endurance and mentally prepares me for pushing myself very hard (I'll randomly increase the speed to 17/18km for a minute every now and then).

Other activities:

Fencing. Twice a week I go fencing. One club night of about 2 hours solid fencing (some bouts go to about 50 without a break) and a very tough training session with my coach on a saturday morning (1 hour).

Karate: I spend an hour helping out with the junior session before doing the serious 2 hours training with the older group. I then get an extra 30 mins after everyone leaves to help me prepare for my Dan grading.

A 2 mile walk down the road to do some shopping every saturday.

Squash on a Friday morning with school.

On the days I don't go to the gym I do:

50x Sit-ups holding weights (10kg)

50x Pushups with stands to lower my body further.

3x10 Bicep curls with my own set of weights at 20kg.

If you actually stick to this program I can predict you are very physically fit, and have atleast a 6 pack with big arms :P

The only thing I do more often then you its sit ups and on the pec flie i think i do a few kg above you... Very nice workout plan, I prefer punch bag for 10 minutes at the gym to running as punch bag reliefs stress...

Its good for your age, try to aim for higher lifting of weights, you want to lift a weight around 8-12 times and do 4 sets of this... the more you push yourself the quicker you gain muscle...

Although i'm 17 and am only bicept curling around 45lbs at the max <.<

Yer, I was completely knackered after my first session lol. Much harder playing singles though... double doesn't tire you out as much

Agreed, when i was playing it in PE for two hours i was totally knackered in singles and was hurting all over, but doubles don't take much work

Definately not each arm :D All the weights I do are weight machines except the stuff i do at home and none of that is over 20kg (only because my weights kit doesn't have anymore weights to put on it). I max out at about 30kg for one arm, haven't really tried for a while.

u do know that 46kg on a machine doesnt mean 46kg real weight?

depending on the machine of course, sometimes its half of the weight it shows, sometimes its a fourth

Aye, the gym I went to during highschool, most of them were 1/4 displayed weight. It used to be 1/2 and then they got in new gear and it went down to 1/4 :-?
