What Exercise do YOU do?

killmenub

Recommended Posts

I made a thread like this around half a year ago when I thought I exercised loads but i had no clue that i was doing hardly any

So my question is what exercise do you do, other then sitting at the computer?

I personally tried the gym when i got the cash to pay for it for a month and ended going about 20 odd times out of the 30 days i paid for, but now my gym membership has ended and the gym is closing down, so i need some new home exercises...

My plan is to do these things i got taught which is a normal sit up, then a stomach crunch for each side (which i do in 3 movements) then start again (target is to be able to do this 100 times, which is like 300 seperate sit ups), this kills my abs, so i hope to build muscle soon :P Aswell i plan to continue doing weights at home...

So my question is, what exercise do you do?

Well...

Monday, I golf after school - don't knock the health benefits of golf.

Tuesday, I have PE (Table tennis/badminton) then an hour of badminton after school.

Wednesday: I swim after school.

Thurday: I swim after school again.

Friday: Swimming after school.

Saturday & Sunday: Golf, but not 'till March - not a member of a club 'till then. I try to go out taking photos these days. If you think lugging all my equipment about isn't excersise, you're sadly mistaken. Also, when shooting photos I'll occasionally have to set the timer and run to remove a distraction. Last week it was a branch next to a river, I got pretty wet and the branch didn't get moved but I got an extra distraction in it: my arm.

I walk my two dogs for a few miles every day too.

How's that for excersise? :XD:

I take my bike to class. That's about 30 minutes of excercise each day. Don't need much more than that to stay in shape.

Minimum:

Mon: Soccer, 2h

Tues: Soccer, 2h

Wed: Normally 1h running or 90 min gym

Thu: Soccer, 2h

Fri: Soccer, 2h

Sat or Sun: Jogging one day and Soccer game the other.

and 50+ sit-ups and 50 push-ups every evening before bed.

My goal is to go to bed earlier at night and get into this schedule:

Mon: Running in the morning before uni. Soccer, 2h

Tues: Running. Soccer, 2h

Wed: 1h running or 90 min gym

Thu: Running. Soccer, 2h

Fri: Running. Soccer, 2h

Sat or Sun: Jogging one day and Soccer game the other.

and 100+ sit-ups and 100 push-ups every evening before bed.

Every running session interchangeable with gym. Then I'm back above the level of training I was at when playing soccer the most seriously, and I want to get back there.

But this is not much help for you...I'd say

Push-ups, both with hands at shoulder-width and hands together, with the fingers creating a triangle.

Situps (I do prefer the normal ones by far, though, that little extra side-thing does nothing for the sides of your abs from what I've heard, you could try sit-ups while lying on your side, though, which requires some leverage on your feet)

Standing with your back against the wall with knees at a 90 degree angle for a couple of minutes

Lying on your stomach, hands under your chin. Lift your back, 1 second at the top of the movement, then back down. Repeat.

yea, well, all I can think of now, you can basically do all your body without weights or machines, get something so you can do pull-ups or whatever they're called, excellent back and shoulder exercises if you have some bar you can pull yourself up to.

- I run every evening for about half an hour to an hour.

- Play badminton for 3 hour sessions on Monday and Thursday. Every other weekend I play in a inter-uni tournament, lasting pretty much 4-8 hours.

- Go swimming once a week at some point for as long as I feel.

- Walk or cycle everywhere I go.

- Occasionally join my boyfriend doing some sit ups and press ups, but only to show him up muahahaha.

That's about it!

A common mistake is to do massive amounts of press-ups or situps to try and build muscle. If you want to build muscle mass you should do low repetitions of high weights. This is a little trickier for sit-up type exercises without access to a gym, but try doing it with a weight on your upper chest area. For home exercises though, a set of adjustable dumbells is very useful.

Personally, I play hockey for about an hour or two normally once or twice a week this time of the year, normally in matches or training. Rugby before Christmas, and tennis in the summer.

I also go to the gym three/four times a week to work with weights and go swimming.

In the summer I also cycle a lot, and run in the winter, although less running this winter.

I don't have the will or need to go the gym and work out (I'm a teenager with a high metabolism and little hunger, ftw), so I just play Select A and Varsity Soccer. Like 1-2 hours a day of running and playing soccer, average.

I'm off season though, so I havn't done any kind of training in a while  . That is, if you exclude personal gymnastics "training" (basically me doing kip ups, etc. and *trying* to do a sideways flip on a mat  ).

Run for about 1 hour on each of 2 or 3 days per week. (stretching included here)

I also do around 50 push ups every night...you won't get huge, but it gives a little tone.

I try and do a few push ups adn sit ups before going to bed every night, keeps me in decent condition.

I also LOVE to play football anytime I can round up enough friends, which usually ends up being once or twice a week.(depending on how cold it is)

2 nights a week at the gym, golf on saturday usually.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

table tennis everyday. Run to school.

Try to go to gym once a forweek. In the gym I first stretch.

Then I do treadmill, doing shuffle steps. This is really good for basketball or table tennis. Then run for like 10 min on a high setting and high slope. Then I do dumbbells. I do bicep curls about 12 x 3 on each arm. Then I do hammer curls. Then work triceps, lats. This pull up assist machine. Hamstring leg machine. The thing where you push with ur legs thing. Man.. I forgot all the terms from gym class. Etc.. I basically do a little of everything in the gym.

I got told, that way is unhealthy for people under21 becuase our body is still developing, so the best way for that age is high reps low weights, it doesnt cause as much damage

OT: Luring is sooo easy to avoid. That's what those nice signposts are for.

Rubbish. High reps low weights only increases endurance at any age. You can't build muscle mass by doing 300 reps of whatever excercise you do. Even most pro's do about 2 reps of 6 lifts, with a pause in between.

P.S: Depending on the person, you can start bodybuilding at 14-16 with high weights low reps. It totally depends on your body.

I am currently going to my school gym everyday (or most days)after school and weightlifting.

I also do normal sit ups, crunches, pushups, and those reverse sit ups on a bench thing that works your back muscles. If I'm not at school doing them, i'm home doing them.

I also run a lot at track practice, which is 3 times a weeks, monday, tuesday, and thursday.

I will start baseball in a month which will be more exercise. Although baseball is not a very demanding sport to be fit in.

I also skateboard on the weekends.

I haven't worked out in a week (except for sit ups) because of a wrist injury, so it's going to be a hard workout on monday :) .

I wont post how many reps or how much weight i do simply because i rather not try to compete with somebody on a forum how much better/worse I am compared to them.

Whoa, everyone is so... healthy...

Apart from some yoga, I never moved a muscle until half a year ago. Nugded myself into some action. I cycle to work and go the the gym for a work-out of 1,5 hours twice a week. I usually have to drag myself there, but once I'm training, I really like it.

For the rest, I like to take an occasional long walk, iceskating afternoon,...

I'm doing my final year at school, so I don't have as much free time as I do before. I used to do after-school sport, but that's now been replaced with after-school extension lessons. So, rargh. But,

- Mon-Fri afternoon: 30 mins on the elliptical strider exercise thing. Yeah.

- Sat/Sun morning: I go for a run around the neighbourhood.

- Sun afternoon: play badminton with my dad.

Oh, and I walk to school each morning, instead of driving.

I don't really exercise at all.. I go for about a 20 minute walk every day, but nothing other than that. In middle school and below, I played soccer, basketball, did track, was on the swim team and did gymnastics (not all at once, of course). But once I got into high school, sports just weren't fun anymore. They were no longer based on having fun and being with friends, but were fiercely competitive, which really just got rid of all the fun in it (for me).
